Plans Announced for Classic, College Week, and EHLP Game

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) are pleased to announce the outline for the 2020-21 #Eshow All-Star Series.

Moving forward this season, and for future years to come, the #Eshow All-Star Series will feature three total events combined between the EHL and the EHLP.

EHL All-Star Classic

Taking place for the first time this fall will be the EHL All-Star Classic, which will feature 60 players and 8 goaltenders from the top division of the #Eshow. Currently scheduled for November 23rd and 24th, the 68 All-Stars will be split up into four teams, with 15 skaters and 2 goalies assigned to each roster.

Each team will complete a three-game round robin with two games on the 23rd and a final game in the morning of the 24th. Following the conclusion of the round robin, their will be a Consolation Game and a Championship Game held to wrap-up the 2020 EHL All-Star Classic.

The format for all of the games will consist of a 5-minute warm-up, followed by a pair 25-minute halves.

All 18 EHL coaches will be in attendance, and split up amongst the 4 teams.

The 1st Annual EHL All-Star Classic will take place at the Ice Den Arena in Hooksett, NH.

EHL College Week

For each of the past three seasons, a group of EHL All-Stars has lined up against an NCAA Division III program for an exhibition matchup in late October.

In year #1, 2017, the EHL All-Stars fell in the first-ever matchup with UMass Boston, by the final score of 3-1. The following year, 2018, the EHL All-Stars made it a weekend to remember in October, with great games played against Plymouth State and UMass Boston.

Finally this past year, 2019, the EHL All-Stars made history by going 1-1-1 against a trio of college opponents in Fitchburg State, Salem State and UMass Boston.

This upcoming fall, 2020, the plan was to keep the same three-game format that was used this past year, with rematches set against Fitchburg State and UMass Boston, along with a game against Curry College dropped in the middle of the three days.

However, with the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's EHL College Week is up in the air, with the hopes that the games will have a chance of being planned after the turn of the calendar year. In working closely with our college partners, the EHL is hopeful to play at the very least one of these programs, this upcoming year.

EHLP All-Star Game

Just like the EHL All-Star Classic that will be taking place in November, the EHLP is pleased announce its first All-Star Game in league history, which is scheduled for Sunday, January 17th.

Each EHLP All-Star roster will consist of 18 skaters and 2 goalies, and will include at least 2 players from all 12 organizations.

This year's matchup will fall in a primetime slot, 6:10 pm, right in the middle of the January Showcase in the EHL.

The format of the game will consist of a 5-minute warm-up, followed by a pair 25-minute halves.

The selection process for the coaches will be straight-forward in that the 2 organizations with the highest winning percentage will work the game.

The 1st Annual EHLP All-Star Game will take place at The Rinks at Exeter in Exeter, NH.

Be sure to mark your calendars for this season's feature events in the EHL and EHLP, and stay tuned for more news and updates as we gear up to drop the puck again this fall.
