Jr. Flyers Earn Title in Dramatic Five-Game Series

ASTON, PA -- The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers erased a pair of two-goal deficits, and then Luke Benitez found the back of the net in overtime earning his team the honor of Premier Division Champions. This year's finals in the Eastern Hockey League were truly incredible, as the Jr. Flyers battled throughout a five-game series with the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The Jr. Flyers backs were against the wall in Games 4 and 5, but the team never stopped fighting as they came from behind to win the championship.

PREMIER FINALS - TSR TOP PERFORMER

A number of players shined brightly in the EHL Finals, but Luke Benitez's natural hat-trick in Game 5 earned him the TSR Hockey Top Performer honors. Benitez was held off the scoresheet in each loss during the finals, but in the three victories, the '97 forward had four goals and two assists.

In Game 5, the Jr. Flyers were trailing 4-2 late in the 3rd period, and then Benitez scored a natural hat-trick in 5:54 elapsed time. The 3rd and final tally ended the series, just 2:26 into overtime.

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on winning the Premier Division Championship, and to the Philadelphia Little Flyers on a phenomenal season.
