Zaniboni Set to Lead Organization in First Season

HYANNIS, MA -- Total Athletics of Cape Cod, INC and the TA Seahawks are pleased to announce the hiring of Bill Zaniboni as the first Head Coach and General Manager of their organization.

Zaniboni grew up in Plymouth, MA, playing his high school hockey for Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury. In high school, Zaniboni won three State Championships and was voted MVP in both his Junior and Senior years. Furthermore, Zaniboni was awarded the ESPN Male Athlete of the Year in 2000. The stellar netminder then set off to play junior hockey in both the USHL and the NAHL before accepting a scholarship to Northern Michigan University (CCHA).

At Northern Michigan University, Zaniboni was awarded the Peranni Cup his Senior year for most game stars, and he also took home the community service award in both his Junior and Senior seasons. Zanibonia graduated with a B.S in Business Marketing before continuing to a professional hockey career in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), Central Hockey League (CHL), International Hockey League (IHL), and Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Prior to retiring and becoming a coach he was awarded the team MVP and Goalie of the Year while winning his first professional championship with the Mississippi Surge (SPHL). Check out Zaniboni's stats throughout his hockey career.

Aside from a successful playing career, Zaniboni has also proven to be a successful junior hockey coach by receiving the Coach of the Year award for three consecutive seasons. During that time, Zaniboni also lead his team to two consecutive league titles, as well as two national tournaments. The record speaks for itself at 210-56-8 with the Bozeman Icedogs and Dells Ducks. However, just like most coaches across the junior hockey landscape, Zaniboni is most proud of his NCAA Commitments. Zaniboni averages over 16 players per season advancing to a higher level of play (NCAA, ACHA, Tier I/Tier II and Pro Hockey), and he currently has a pair of former players on the NHL Central Scouting list, that are projected to be drafted this summer.

After spending two years as Head Coach of the Bozeman Icedogs, and the last the five seasons in Wisconsin Dells as Head Coach/GM for the Dells Ducks, Zaniboni and his family felt it was time to come home.

“My Family and I had a very rewarding experience with the Ducks Organization as well as the Wisconsin Dells community. Although the ownership, players, and fans were great to us, we felt it was time to get closer to family, and TACC presented that opportunity with the Seahawks," said Zaniboni. "The Seahawks are in their inaugural season and we’re looking to build on that. I’ve already begun to work my contacts for player information, and target players that I feel will be a good fit this season."

The entire TACC ownership is very excited over the hiring of Zaniboni as the team's first Head Coach and General Manager.

"Bill is a Head Coach/GM that TACC ownership has great respect for. His reputation as a player development coach is well known, for example; four of his recent goalies were Goalie of the Year. Bill's experience as a player and head coach speaks volumes to the knowledge he can bring to our young players," said TACC Owner Mike Sherman, former Green Bay Packers Head Coach and GM. "We are very excited to get Bill and his family to Cape Cod and begin building or Seahawks organization."
