EHL MVP Set to Join the Cardinals this Fall

WARWICK, PA -- Richard McCartney, a forward for the Philadelphia Revolution, has committed to SUNY Plattsburgh for the Fall of 2017. In two seasons with the Revolution, the '96 tallied 112 points in 84 total games (including playoffs). This season, McCartney earned a handful of league honors, as he was named the Most Valuable Player, the Forward of the Year, and a 1st Team All-Star for the South Conference.

“Richie McCartney is one of the best junior hockey players I have ever come across,” said Revolution general manager Chris Kanaly. “He is a leader and an incredible hockey player. Most of all, he’s been a consummate professional on and off the ice. I am confident he will transition and adapt to the NCAA College level quickly to produce just as he has over his junior career. I wish Richie and his family the best of luck at SUNY Plattsburgh.”

McCartney will be joining an elite level NCAA Division III program in the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals. They are consistently one of the best teams in the SUNYAC and NCAA Division III hockey. Another Revolution alumni, Anthony Calabrese, played his college hockey at Plattsburgh and went on to win the SPHL championship with the Pensacola Ice Flyers in his first season as a professional.
