Wizards Forward Set to Join Cougars in the Fall of 2017

BEDFORD, MA -- Matt Winter, a forward for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to the Chatham University for the Fall of 2017. This was Winter's 1st season with the Wizards, and the '96 forward tallied 38 points in 52 total games.

"Matt has some qualities that other players simply don't," said Wizards head coach Freddy Meyer. "One second you'll be next to the guy, and then he's by you. Matt's speed is one of his biggest assets, and with continued development at Chatham, he will only get faster. I look forward to following him throughout his collegiate hockey career."

Winter knows a big reason for his improvement this past season was due in large part to the Wizards coaching staff. The native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts took some time to offer his appreciation.

"The Wizards coaching staff helped me prepare for college hockey through the top-tier coaching and training regimen they offered," said Winter. "Coach Meyer, Coach Falite, and Coach Peacock made my time with the Wizards very productive by being available before, during, and after practices for any questions I had about preparing for college both on and off the ice."

Joined by his teammate Eric Hildebrand, the pair of Wizards will look to help provide a great start for the Chatham Cougars, as they begin their inaugural season at the Division III level this Fall.
