Wizards Forward Set to Join Leopards in the Fall of 2017

BEDFORD, MA -- Brenden Lloyd, a forward for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to the Wentworth Institute of Technology for the Fall of 2017. After starting the season with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs, the native of New York joined the Wizards in early February. Combined between the regular season and playoffs, Lloyd tallied 15 points in 16 total games with the Wizards and the team won 10 of those contests.

"He made our team better," said Wizards head coach Freddy Meyer. "It was pretty immediate also, as we won the first six games he played in. Brenden isn't the biggest player on the ice, but he makes up for it with his speed and goal-scoring ability. From the day he arrived, Brenden was always one of the first guys to get to the rink and one of the last guys to leave. I'm looking forward to following him at Wentworth."

While some players may get discouraged when changing teams late in the season, it seemed as if Lloyd embraced the challenge of joining the Wizards with just 10 games to go. In his final year of junior hockey, Lloyd tallied an even 18 goals and 18 assists (45 total games), catching the attention of Wentworth. Lloyd is extremely thankful for help that the Wizards coaching staff provided to him.

"Coaches Freddy Meyer and Kory Falite helped prepare me for what's to come in college hockey by pushing the pace on and off the ice," said Lloyd. "For the time I was with the Wizards, the coaches expected everyone to put in their best effort everyday to help the team find success down the stretch of the regular season and into playoffs. By promoting hard work and persistence the coaches helped me play my best hockey to help contribute to the team's success."
