Witman, Gratton, and Brawley Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) returned to action this past weekend with half of the teams hitting the ice for their first games. This season, the #Eshow will be releasing a new set of award winners every Monday or Tuesday, dependent on Showcase Series dates. Today, the EHL is pleased to announce Bryce Witman (Philadelphia Revolution), Chris Gratton (Walpole Express), and Brendahn Brawley (Philadelphia Little Flyers) as the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The #Eshow kicks things into a higher gear this upcoming weekend with 12 games from Friday to Monday, and that includes four more teams opening up their 2017-18 season.

The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, September 19th at 9:00am. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

Forward - Bryce Witman (Philadelphia Revolution)

Led by Witman, the Revolution rolled to a weekend sweep of the New York Bobcats Royals to kick-off the season. The '98 forward from Reading, Pennsylvania notched a pair of goals with three assists on Saturday, and then followed things up with a hat-trick on Sunday. Witman's performance on Sunday included in the game-winning goal, as he begins to take on the role of 'Offensive Leader' for the Revolution this season. In the two year prior to this season, Witman tallied 77 points in 91 total games with Philadelphia.

Defenseman - Chris Gratton (Walpole Express)

Back for his 2nd season with Walpole, Gratton was a leader on the point in weekend #1, helping his team pick up a pair of 4-2 wins over the Connecticut Oilers and the Connecticut RoughRiders. The native of Pottstown, Pennsylvania only notched one assist over the weekend, but that point went all with +4 rating combined between the two games, and he also blocked five total shots for his team. After tallying four points in 36 games last season, the Express will look to their '98 defenseman even more this season.

Goaltender - Brendahn Brawley (Philadelphia Little Flyers)

Between the pipes this past weekend, the EHL saw a number of solid performances, but Brawley shined the brightest for the Little Flyers. After stopping 18 of 20 shots against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Saturday, the '98 netminder pitched a 36-save shutout on Sunday. The native of Morton, Pennsylvania looked very steady during his first two games in the EHL, and that will be big for a team that has been very deep at the goaltender position over the past couple seasons.

Honorable Mention - Cullen Kane (Connecticut RoughRiders)

It's tough when a four-goal performance only lands you an Honorable Mention, but Kane is definitely a player to keep your eye on this season. The native of Buffalo, New York and cousin of NHL star Patrick Kane, notched three of his four goals via a natural hat-trick on Saturday night. The fourth goal was simply the icing on the cake in his EHL debut against the Total Athletics Seahawks.

Honorable Mention - Bryan Colburn (Walpole Express)

Similar to Kane's four-goal outing, Colburn lit the lamp three times this past weekend, and two of his tallies stood as game-winners. The '99 forward from Cumberland, Rhode Island showed very little signs of youth after tallying 45 points in the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP) last season.
