TOTAL GOALS - 636

Heading into today's 3 games in the EHL, a total of 636 goals have been scored so far this season. The single day with the highest total number of goals was back on October 7th when 14 of the 16 teams were in action. There were 50 total goals scored on that Saturday in the EHL.

Looking back at the first showcase of the season, there were 36 goals scored during Day #1 of the action in Walpole, and 45 goals racked up in Day #2.

EHL = PARITY

Through the first 100 EHL games, the league is showing once again, that there is a strong sense of parity amongst the 16 teams.

To date, here is a breakdown of all the close games so far this season:

  • 20 Games = 20% of games have been decided by 2 goals or less.
  • 29 Games = 29% of games have been decided by 1 goal or less.
  • 11 Games = 11% of games have been decided in overtime.
  • 1 Game = 1% of games have been decided in a shootout.

With lots of hockey still left to be played, it will be interesting to see how these numbers change as the season progresses. However, if the pattern sticks, it's clear how important every single goal is this season in the EHL.

Looking back at the October Showcase, and 14 of the 16 total games were decided by 2 goals or less. That total equals out to 87% of the games.

NORTH VS. SOUTH

Last, but not least, we look at the battle between the North Conference and the South Conference. Every year the debate is constant as to which conference is deeper as the season progresses. Through the first quarter of the season, the North holds a 26-19 advantage in the first 45 cross-conference games. There is plenty of time for the South to try and close the gap, and it was very interesting to follow the first showcase of the season. There was an even split between the 2 sets of teams, with 8 wins for the North, and 8 wins for the South in Walpole.
