Panzeca, O’Connor, and Seigel Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) was in full gear this past week, with 17 total games from Thursday to Sunday. With all 16 teams hitting the ice, there were plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Devin Panzeca (East Coast Wizards), Colin O’Connor (Connecticut RoughRiders), and Mark Siegel (New York Applecore) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The week ahead includes a huge slate of games, with the focus on the 2nd showcase of the season set to take place at Haverhill Valley Forum. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Tuesday, November 14th, following the showcase. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Devin Panzeca (East Coast Wizards)

Panzeca and the Wizards split their home-and-home series with the Boston Jr. Rangers, moving their record up to 10-7-0 for the season. Their 20 points currently place them in 3rd place in the Boston Division, and 4th overall in the North Conference. The '97 forward led his team this past weekend with a pair of goals and 4 assists in the 2 games. Each team won their respective road matchup, and for the Wizards, that gives them 2 victories now this season at Breakaway Ice Center (home of the Rangers). In the 2 road victories over the Rangers, the Wizards have scored 8 total goals and Panzeca has had a role in every single tally (2 goals and 6 assists). Since joining the Wizards in mid-October, the '97 forward has 22 points in his first 10 games, and the team has gone 7-3-0 in that span. The native of Illinois will look to continue to lead the way as the Wizards get set for a huge 4-game week. The Wizards will battle the Walpole Express on Wednesday, the Total Athletics Seahawks on Friday, and then the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and Philadelphia Little Flyers at the November Showcase.

DEFENSEMAN - Colin O’Connor (Connecticut RoughRiders)

O'Connor and the RoughRiders won 1 of their 3 games this past week, as they maintained control of the top spot in the Central Division. While the final results of a pair of the games were disappointing for the RoughRiders, it was a very good week for the '98 defenseman. O'Connor tallied a pair of goals and dished out 5 assists, increasing his overall point total up to 16 for the season. The native of the Connecticut has been rock solid for his team this year, as he is averaging a point per game all while also playing very well in the defensive zone. The week ahead for the RoughRiders includes just a pair of games at the November Showcase. Connecticut will wrap-up their season series with the New England Wolves on Sunday, and then face-off with the #1-ranked New Hampshire Avalanche on Monday.

GOALTENDER - Mark Siegel (New York Applecore)

Siegel and the Applecore won 2 of their 3 matchups this past week, and the New York native was in net for each victory. With the pair of wins, the '97 netminder improves his overall record up to 3-3-1 for the season. Siegel also lowered his GAA down to 2.80, while stopping 59 of the 63 total shots he faced. By beating the Connecticut RoughRiders and Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, Siegel helped the Applecore move into 6th place in the South Conference. New York is right in the thick of what is shaping up to be a tight playoff race, and just like the RoughRiders, the Applecore is set to face-off with the New Hampshire Avalanche and New England Wolves at the November Showcase.

Honorable Mentions - McDonald, Adamsons, Boring, and Higgins

This week, the EHL is recognizing a handful of honorable mentions, as this group of players all turned in "star-worthy" performances.

Just like Devin Panzeca, Kyle McDonald tallied 6 points in 2 games for the Vermont Lumberjacks. The big weekend led to a weekend sweep of the New England Wolves, as Vermont is now a perfect 5-0-0 against their New England Division rival. In the 5 matchups, McDonald has tallied 12 total points.

Sticking with the North ConferenceChristopher Adamsons tallied a goal and 3 assists for the New Hampshire Avalanche. The '98 forward was a key factor in his team handing the Philadelphia Revolution their first loss of the season, and then extending their winning streak to 7 games with a victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Sunday.

Flipping over to the South Conference, Matt Boring was the offensive catalyst for the New York Applecore, with 6 total points in the 3 games. Boring nearly doubled his point total, as he finished the weekend with 14 points for the season.

Finishing up in the Mid-Atlantic DivisionEric Higgins made his presence felt in his first 2 games with the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The '97 forward racked up 4 total points, including the game-winner on Sunday, as the Little Flyers completed a weekend sweep of the Connecticut Oilers.
