TOTAL GOALS - 1041

Following this past weekend's showcase, a total of 1041 goals have been scored so far this season. The single day with the highest total number of goals was back on November 4th when 14 of the 16 teams were in action. There were 52 total goals scored on that Saturday in the EHL.

Looking back at the the action this past weekend, there were 82 total goals scored in Haverhill, with an even split 41 goals each day.

EHL = PARITY

Through the first 162 EHL games, the league is showing once again, that there is a strong sense of parity amongst the 16 teams.

To date, here is a breakdown of all the close games so far this season:

  • 31 Games = 19.13% of games have been decided by 2 goals or less.
  • 47 Games = 29.01% of games have been decided by 1 goal.
  • 16 Games = 9.88% of games have been decided in overtime.
  • 5 Games = 3.09% of games have been decided in a shootout.

With lots of hockey still left to be played, it will be interesting to see how these numbers change as the season progresses. However, if the pattern sticks, it's clear how important every single goal is this season in the EHL.

Looking back at the November Showcase, and 10 of the 16 total games were decided by 2 goals or less. That number jumps to 14 of 16 when counting the games that were decided by just 3 goals or less.

NORTH VS. SOUTH

Last, but not least, we look at the battle between the North Conference and the South Conference. After the firs 100 games, the North had a 26-19 advantage over the South, and that included an 8-8 split at the October Showcase. Since then however, the North has started to stretch the gap due in large part to their 11-5 advantage from this past weekend.

  • North Conference - 43
  • South Conference - 26

Through the first 69 cross-conference matchups, the North has made its case as the stronger set of teams this season. For the South, there is still plenty of time left to make up the difference.

UP NEXT: DECEMBER SHOWCASE

Leading up to the holiday break in December, there is one more showcase set to take place at Rodman Arena on December 17th and 18th. As the EHL heads towards the new calendar year, there will be 244 games in the books and 156 games left to be played.

The next breakdown of the EHL By the Numbers will be released following the December Showcase in Walpole, MA.
