Avalanche Forward Set to Join the Bears in the Fall of 2018

HOOKSETT, NH -- Ben Thompson, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to SUNY Potsdam for the Fall of 2018. The '97 is in his first season with the Avalanche, and has tallied 20 points in 25 total games.

"Thommy is going to do a great job next season and over the next four years," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached, and he is a true competitor. He plays the game the right way; he plays it hard and plays well on both sides of the puck. Benny and his family has been with me for a long time and I am very happy for him, he is going to be a very good college hockey player and Postdam was a perfect fit in every way."

Thompson is the third commit of the season, and the first EHL player to commit to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) so far this season. Looking back to last season, and the EHL finished with 11 total SUNYAC commitments. The native of Connecticut took some time to reflect on his decision, and thank those who helped him along the way.

"I would like to thank my family for their continued support over the last few seasons," said Thompson. "They gave me the ability to play juniors and it has paid off in a big way. I would like to thank Coach Cerrella for everything that he has done. Over the past 3 to 4 years he has made me the player I am today and I can not thank him enough for all of the opportunities he has given me. I am very excited to start the next four years of my life at SUNY Potsdam, GO BEARS!"
