Avalanche Goaltender Set to Join Dutchmen in the Fall of 2018

HOOKSETT, NH -- Nick Sorgio, a goaltender for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Lebanon Valley College for the Fall of 2018. The '98 netminder is in his first season with the Avalanche, and has a 9-0-1 record in ten games so far this year.

“Nick is a big, strong, mobile goalie, which is a perfect recipe for success at the next level," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "I think he is going to do a great job on the ice and in the classroom. I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future. LVC has made a great choice and it was a perfect fit for both the player and the school.”

This past season, there were six total EHL players who made their commitments to Lebanon Valley College. Sorgio is the first player from the EHL to choose the Dutchmen this year, but judging by the history, he likely won't be the last. Don Parsons is the Head Coach for LVC, and he took some time to reflect on Sorgio and the Avalanche.

"I would like thank the Avalanche organization for their dedication to their players and commitment to winning," said Parsons. "A special thanks to Coach Cerrella for developing players and working hard to get them to the next level of hockey and acadmics. We have three former players of Coach Cerrella’s who have already made big impacts on our program on and off the ice. We are very confident that Nick will come in and provide the goaltending we need to bring our team to the next level. He is a kid that will be an asset to LVC on and off the ice, which is what we strive for. I look forward to a continued relationship with him and the Avalanche program."

The excitement doesn't just end with each respective coach, as Sorgio is glad to have his decision made for next Fall and is grateful for all the help along the way.

“I would like to thank my family for always supporting me during this journey," said Sorgio. " I would like to thank all the coaches that I have played for over the past few years and I would like to thank Coach Cerrella for helping me get to that next level. I would like to thank my teammates from the past and a special thanks to my teammates with the Avalanche, without you guys none of this would come true. I am looking forward to the next chapter on and off the ice at Lebanon Valley, Go Dutchmen!”
