Seahawks Defenseman Set to Join Teammate Next Fall

HYANNIS, MA -- Austin Johnson, a defenseman for the Total Athletics Seahawks, has committed to Morrisville State for the Fall of 2018.  The '97 is in his first season in the EHL, and has tallied 10 points in 29 total games so far this year.

"Austin is a very mature person and a very nice player, that is a student of the game," said Seahawks head coach and general manager Bill Zaniboni. "Austin wants to get better, he has a high compete level and we are excited for him and his family."

Johnson is the 2nd EHL player to commit to Mustangs for the Fall of 2018, joining his teammate Austin Roy who made the same decision a few weeks ago. Johnson took some time to reflect on his choice, and thank those that helped him along the way.

"First of all, I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for all the support and encouragement," said Johnson. "They believed in me and gave me every opportunity to pursue my dream of playing NCAA Hockey. I want to thank my U16 coach and friend Mykul Haun for his advice and guidance. It made a huge impact on the person and player that I am today. I would also like to thanks the Seahawks organization, Warren Nighan, and Coach Mike Sherman for putting together a great hockey club. Finally I want to thank Coach Zaniboni for teaching me what it means to be first a good person, and then to be a good teammate and hockey player. Your Support, encouragement, and belief in me over the last 3 years is a major reason that I will now be playing at the collegiate level."
