Express Defenseman Joins Group of Future Bears

WALPOLE, MA -- Chris Gratton, a defenseman for the Walpole Express, has committed to SUNY Potsdam for the Fall of 2018. The '98 is in his second season with the Express, and to date, has tallied 16 points in 69 career games for Walpole.

“Chris came to us via the North Jersey Avalanche and has developed a tremendous amount in 2 seasons," said Express head coach and general manager Jon Lounsbury. "He is a huge reason why we are having the success we are this season. Chris’s ability to skate and read the play will make him an impact college player from day one.”

Gratton joins a strong group of future Bears, as he is the 4th EHL player to commit to join Potsdam next Fall. The native of Pottstown, PA will hit the campus with 3 members of the New Hampshire Avalanche (Ethan Clark - Michael Paglucca - Ben Thompson). Gratton took some time to reflect on his decision, and thank those that helped him along the way.

“I would like to thank my family for giving me the opportunity to chase my dream of playing NCAA hockey," said Gratton. "I would also like to thank Coach Lounsbury and the Walpole Express for helping me become the player I am today. I am very excited to become a Bear in the Fall."
