January: Panzeca -- Lieth -- Ciccarelli

BOSTON, MA -- We've reached the final month of the 2017-18 regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). The playoff races are heating, and so are the battles for weekly and monthly honors. January was filled with a number of great matchups, and numerous candidates for the latest set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Month.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Devin Panzeca (East Coast Wizards), Ryan Lieth (New York Applecore), and Peter Ciccarelli (Philadelphia Revolution) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Month for January.

The Stars of the Month will all receive a $20 TSR Hockey gift certificate.

Scroll down to read about each player's January performances, and remember to catch the #Eshow action all year long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Devin Panzeca (East Coast Wizards)

Panzeca and the Wizards went 6-2-1 in the month of January, and the '97 led the way with 11 goals and 12 assists in the nine games. For the season, the native of Illinois now has 66 points in 33 games, as he averages an even 2.00 points per game. Panzeca has already cracked into the Eshow record books, as his year to date would put him in the top ten in terms of points in a single season in the EHL. With seven game-winning goals (three in January), the Wizards will continue to lean on Panzeca down the stretch in their final ten games of the regular season. The Wizards are currently 3rd in the Boston Division and 4th overall in the North Conference. The battle for the First Round bye, as well as home-ice advantage will be huge as we head towards March.

DEFENSEMAN - Ryan Lieth (New York Applecore)

Lieth and the Applecore finished the month of January without a loss in regulation, posting a record of 8-0-2 in their ten games. Lieth played in nine of those games, contributing with four goals and six assists from the blue line. The '98 now has 14 points to his name this season, and his biggest point in January was the game-winning goal he scored against the Valley Jr. Warriors at showcase in West Chester, PA. The Applecore are right in the thick of the tight playoff race in the South Conference, and will be relying on Lieth in the final 12 games as they look to make a move for the Central Division title.

GOALTENDER - Peter Ciccarelli (Philadelphia Revolution)

In net, there were a number of top performers, but Ciccarelli shined the brightest while picking up four wins against some of the top teams in the EHL. The '97 netminder beat the Philadelphia Little Flyers twice, the Boston Jr. Rangers at the January Showcase, and then capped off the month yesterday by handing the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights just their second loss since December 10th. While picking up the four wins, Ciccarelli posted a stellar 1.83 GAA and increased his save percentage up to .931 for the season. The Revolution are strong contenders to win the 2017-18 Regular Season Championship, as they currently hold a one-point lead over the New Hampshire Avalanche for the top spot in the league standings. With 12 games remaining, Philadelphia will lean heavily on Ciccarelli down the final stretch of the regular season.
