Allen, Dahl, and Sims Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- Another week in the books in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and we're now just a month away from the postseason. This past weekend featured a number of great matchups, including a handful of potential playoff previews. As is always the case with every team in action, there were plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Zander Allen (New England Wolves), Christian Dahl (Philadelphia Revolution), and Riley Sims (Valley Jr. Warriors) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The week ahead features a total of 20 games from Tuesday to Monday, and the next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, February 12th at 4:00pm. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Zander Allen (New England Wolves)

Allen and the Wolves won their only game of the week this past Sunday over the Valley Jr. Warriors. The 7-3 victory was highlighted by Allen's four-goal outburst, which also happened to be his first tallies of the season. Through the first 40 games of the season, the '97 had racked up a respectable 15 assists, but no goals. The native of Rochester, NH got the monkey off his back and then some on Sunday, all while helping his team earn a pair of huge points in the push for the playoffs. Allen and the Wolves have nine games left, and are currently in possession of the tiebreaker over the Warriors for the 6th and final playoff spot in the North Conference. With the Warriors owning a game in hand, and the Total Athletics Seahawks just three points back, this weekend's home-and-home series against the Boston Jr. Rangers puts a huge four points on the line for the Wolves.

DEFENSEMAN - Christian Dahl (Philadelphia Revolution)

Dahl and the Revolution kept rolling this past week, knocking off the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights on Wednesday and then sweeping their two-game home series with the Connecticut Oilers. The big defenseman added five more assists to his season totals, giving him 29 total points through 40 games to date. Dahl and the Revolution have 10 games remaining and appear to be in the driver's seat for the Mid-Atlantic Division title, the #1 seed in the South Conference, and the overall EHL Regular Season Championship. The week ahead includes three big road games for the Revolution, as they take on the Philadelphia Little Flyers, the Total Athletics Seahawks, and the Walpole Express.

GOALTENDER - Riley Sims (Valley Jr. Warriors)

Sims and the Warriors won two of their three games this past week, and the 2000 born netminder was in net for the victory on Friday night. Sims stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced, and then made five more stops in the shootout, leading his team to a 4-3 victory over the New Hampshire Avalanche. With the win, the Warriors remain as the only team that the Avalanche have yet to beat this season, as Valley is a perfect 3-0-0 against their division rival. Sims has shined brightly as one of the youngest goaltenders in the EHL, and to date he owns a record of 5-6-2 to go along with a 3.80 GAA. The Warriors are in a very tight battle with the New England Wolves and the Total Athletics Seahawks for the final playoff spot in the North Conference. Sims will look to help his team stay in the race, as they face-off this week against the Boston Jr. Rangers on Wednesday and then the Vermont Lumberjacks on Saturday and Sunday.

HONORABLE MENTION - Bonnvie, Panzeca, and Smith

This week the EHL would like to recognize a trio of Honorable Mentions, from a strong set of players that helped lead their respective teams to victory.

On Friday afternoon, the Connecticut RoughRiders and the New York Applecore faced-off in a big Central Division showdown. Ryan Bonnvie was stellar in net for the RoughRiders, stopping 32 of the 33 total shots that he faced. Connecticut currently owns a six-point lead over New York for 1st place in the division.

Devin Panzeca stretched his point streak up to a league-leading 14 games, as the East Coast Wizards went 2-0-1 in their three games. The '97 forward is making a push for EHL scoring title, as he is currently 3rd overall with 74 points and eight games remaining.

Last, but not least, Kolton Smith helped keep the playoff hopes alive for the Total Athletics Seahawks, by tallying a goal and four assists in his team's 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers on Saturday night.
