Avalanche Forward Set to Join Jumbos this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Calvin LeClair, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Tufts University for the Fall of 2018. The '98 from Pennsylvania is in his first season in the EHL, and through 32 games has tallied 22 total points to his name.

"Cal is explosive and skilled. He also has a high end hockey IQ and he is going to only get better over four seasons of college hockey," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He had a lot of choices, and went on a lot of visits, and Tufts was his top choice since it was such a great fit. His family wanted a combination of athletics and very good academics and he got both with his decision to attend Tufts next year. I am excited to see him play in the future and I think he is going to be very successful on and off the ice. Cal has been a big part of our offense and we are going to be counting on him down the stretch."

As is the case for many hockey fans, when you see the last name LeClair it makes you think of the former NHL star that spent over 15 seasons in the pros and racked up over 400 career goals. Calvin has received lots of help and guidance from his Father over the years, and he took some time to give thanks.

"I would like to thank my family for all of their support throughout the years, as I could not have done it without them. A thanks to all my Avs teammates and a special thanks to my roommate Ethan Clark for all the help this season. I would like to thank Coach Cerrella for preparing me for college hockey over the last year as well as a thank you to Coach Martiniello and the whole Avalanche program, GO JUMBOS!"
