McPherson, Boyce, and Thelvén Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- We're down to the final 32 games of the regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). This past week featured a huge slate of games, and plenty of intriguing matchups. As is always the case, with lots of action came plenty of worthy candidates for our weekly honors.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Mike McPherson (Boston Jr. Rangers), Connor Boyce (Connecticut RoughRiders), and Jeremy Thelvén (Connecticut RoughRiders) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

The second to last week of the regular season features 15 more games from Wednesday to Monday. The next set of TSR Hockey Stars of the Week will be released on Monday, February 26th at 4:00pm. Catch the #Eshow action all season long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Mike McPherson (Boston Jr. Rangers)

McPherson and the Rangers won all three of their games this past week, and the '97 from Somerville, MA continued to light it up on offense. Since rejoining the Rangers earlier this month, McPherson has tallied 21 total points in 7 games, and that includes 12 points to his name this past week. Along with averaging an even 3.00 points per game, the Rangers have more importantly gone 6-0-1 this month. There are three games left in the regular season for the Rangers, and the battle for Boston Division Regular Season Championship will likely come down to next Wednesday's (February 28th) matchup against the Walpole Express. In the meantime, McPherson will look to stay hot in his team's only game this week, tomorrow afternoon against the East Coast Wizards.

DEFENSEMAN - Connor Boyce (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Boyce and the RoughRiders also won all three of their games this past week, on their way to clinching the Central Division Regular Season Championship. The '98 defenseman was rock-solid on the blue line, while racking up seven total points in the three games. In his first season in the EHL, Boyce now has 37 points through 46 total games. The RoughRiders are locked in as the #2 seed, which earns them a First Round bye in the EHL Playoffs. If the First Round plays out with the favorites all advancing, the RoughRiders will then be the #3 seed in the Second Round and will likely matchup with the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

GOALTENDER - Jeremy Thelvén (Connecticut RoughRiders)

While Boyce manned the blue line, Thelvén stood tall between the pipes for Connecticut. The '98 netminder went 2-0-0 this past week, while playing in all three games for the RoughRiders. Thelvén had to relieve Ryan Bonnvie in net on Tuesday against the Connecticut Oilers, after his counterpart was forced out of the game with an injury. The native of Sweden stopped all 14 shots he faced in relief, and then capped off the week with a pair of wins over the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers. The RoughRiders are a perfect 7-0-0 in February and they will now wrap-up the month with a pair of tough two-game sets. The first series brings the Philadelphia Revolution to town this Saturday and Sunday, while the second series concludes the regular season on March 1st and 2nd against the Philadelphia Little Flyers.

Honorable Mentions - Peters, Krause, Sverdlov and House

This week the EHL is handing out four Honorable Mentions, to a group of players that all delivered star-worthy performances.

Chris Peters and the Walpole Express went 3-0-1 in their four games this past week, and the '97 Forward became the all-time leading scorer in EHL history. To date, Peters has 160 career points during his time in the EHL, and that includes four goals and six assists from this past week.

Brenden Krause and the Total Athletics Seahawks lost to the Vermont Lumberjacks on Wednesday, but then kept their playoff hopes alive with weekend victories over the New York Applecore and the New York Bobcats Royals. The '99 forward tallied an even three goals and three assists during the week.

Val Sverdlov was the offensive catalyst for the  Connecticut Oilers, as they jumped back ahead of the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers for the 6th and final playoff spot in the South Conference. The '97 forward found the back of the net four times this past week, and he know has a goal in each of his last four games.

Last, but not least, Declan House scored the overtime winner for the New England Wolves on Sunday against the Valley Jr. Warriors. The Wolves may only have a one-point cushion for the 6th and final playoff spot in the North Conference, but they do however own the tiebreaker over the two teams chasing them in the standings.
