Jr. Flyers Forward Joins List of Future Lumberjacks

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Alex Syring, a forward for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, has committed to Northland College for the Fall of 2018. The '97 joined the Jr. Flyers in late January, and he notched up a pair of goals and a pair of assists in 13 total games.

"Before he came to us I had been watching him for two years and liked his skating and how he competes on every play," said Jr. Flyers head coach and general manager Jerry Domish. "He is very focused and puts in the time required to become the best he can be. I feel once he adjusts to the college level, he will be a great defensive forward who will be very hard to play against.”

For Syring, it felt like the season was over before it even got started, after the native of Ohio arrived in West Chester very late in the year. However, the veteran forward did make the most of his time with the Jr. Flyers, and is really thankful for what the organization gave him.

“My time here has been great," said Syring. "Coach Jerry and Jerramie [Domish] have helped me a lot and it is a great program. They helped me achieve my goal to play college hockey and I’m happy I came to the Jr. Flyers. I’d like to thank my family, I’ve worked really hard, but I owe it to them as well. I’d like to thank my Dad [Scott Syring], who played for Ohio State. I looked up to him growing up and I’m glad to be playing in the NCAA. It has been a goal of mine ever since I started playing, and without him I wouldn’t have achieved it. He's made everything positive for me and he's always supported my dream. He’s made a lot of sacrifices for me, so thank you Dad. I also want to thank my sisters Madison and McKensie and my mother for helping me follow my dream, and my grandparents for their support. Thank you to Steve Dickinson, Nick Parillo, Mike Mankowski, and Dan Jones for all of your help."
