BOSTON, MA -- The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) is pleased to announce that Dylan Schuett of the East Coast Wizards has been named the 2018 Rookie of the Year (ROY). Schuett led all rookies in scoring with 64 point in the regular season. The 2000 from Canada then added four more assists to his name in the playoffs, giving him a total of 68 points in 52 games in the EHL. The Rookie of the Year award and all other league honors, are voted on by the coaches in the EHL.

"Dylan is a very special individual, both on and off the ice," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "He made it very clear this season what he was capable of, but it's also the way that he conducts himself away from the rink that makes him such a great kid. He is a smart and driven young man, who is very worthy of this honor. At just 17 years old, he is still growing, and the future for him is incredibly bright. I can't wait to keep in touch with Dylan as he continues on his journey to college hockey."

As Meyer mentioned, Schuett is still very young and will only continue to develop as he gets older. To have the success he had at such a young age, is a credit to how talented the 2000 born forward really is. Schuett of course now has his name in EHL history with this award, but also for the point streak that he put together at the end of the year. Starting in mid-December, Schuett tallied at least a point in 24 straight games, and that's an EHL record. 

The 2nd place finisher for the ROY honor is Ryan Campbell (Walpole Express) and 3rd place is DJ Schwenke (New England Wolves). Tomorrow, the EHL will announce the 2018 Coach of the Year (COY).
