Valley Jr. Warriors 9 – New York Apple Core 2: Michael Spinelli and Wake Purdy powered the Warriors offense in a 9-2 win over New York, combining for seven of the nine goals. Purdy recorded a hat trick, including two goals late in the first half while Spinelli tallied his first four goals of the season. Tyler Gobel and Robbie Nolan each had a goal and an assist for New York, but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors improved to 3-1-0 with the win.
New Hampshire Avalanche 1 – Bridgewater Bandits 0: Ben Carfora scored early in the first half for his third of the season, and it proved to be the game’s only goal. Avs goaltender Will Seagrave stopped all 15 shots he faced to earn the shutout, and Bandits goaltender Avery Rovira-Hewett stopped 30 of 31 shots. With the win, New Hampshire improves to 4-1-0.
Boston Jr. Terriers 3 – Connecticut Nor’Easter 1: The Terriers won their first game of the season in a battle against the Nor’Easter. Joey Pankowski scored a power-play goal early in the first half, and then the goaltenders took over. Connecticut netminder Remi DeSmith and Boston goaltender Nicholas Mele kept it a 1-0 game until late in the second half, as Boston defenseman Nolan Berner scored his first EHL goal. Hunter Harkins put the Nor’Easter on the board late, but Kenny Thurston iced the game with a quick snap shot underneath DeSmith’s blocker.
Connecticut RoughRiders 3 – Philadelphia Hockey Club 2 (F/OT): The RoughRiders prevailed in a back-and-forth affair with an overtime goal from Rufus Gray. Aidan Westphalen gave Connecticut a 1-0 lead early in the first half, but Philadelphia scored two unanswered goals from Jake Smith and Connor Movalli. Matt McCormack evened the score midway through the second half for Connecticut, then in the extra session, Connor Hetherington snapped a stretch pass right to Gray who lofted a backhander top shelf for the OT win.
Express Hockey Club 2 – New England Wolves 0: Lukas Toth was the hero for the Express, making 18 saves in a relief appearance after starting goaltender Alex Koenig was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct for butt-ending. Ville Bodin gave the Express a 1-0 lead in the first half, and Koenig was ejected a few minutes later after a scrum in front of his own net, and the Wolves spent the rest of the game peppering the rookie goaltender. Toth, who made his EHL debut, was up to the task as he helped the Express kill off the major penalty and completed the combined shutout. Nate Brissett provided an insurance tally with his first EHL goal, and the Express earned their first win of the season.
Seahawks Hockey Club 4 – Vermont Lumberjacks 1: The Seahawks earned its first win of the season and snapped a three-game slide by defeating the Lumberjacks, 4-1. Jackson Duquette opened the scoring for Vermont, netting his fourth goal of the season, but the Seahawks stormed back with four unanswered goals in the second half. Danny Kehoe, Billy Hawkins, Jeremy Zecher and Alexis Detcheverry all scored for the Seahawks while Zander Zels recorded two assists. Seahawks goaltender Isak Saldjoughi made 14 saves on 15 shots in the win.
East Coast Wizards 4 – Pennsylvania Huntsmen 1: In the battle between the undefeated teams, the Wizards came out on top with a 4-1 victory, improving to 5-0-0. Max Tong gave East Coast a 1-0 lead in the first half, and Joey Ala doubled the lead early in the second half with his fifth goal of the season. The Huntsmen got one back as Devin Schaeffer buried his first goal of the season, but J.J. Alger roofed a backhander upstairs to make it 3-1 and Cooper St. Hillaire iced the game with an empty netter.
New Jersey Bears 4 – Boston Jr. Eagles 1: The Bears scored four unanswered goals in a win against the Jr. Eagles. Joey Curtatone opened the scoring for Boston, but the Bears responded with two goals in the first half and two more in the second. Owen House scored his league-leading seventh goal of the season while Marcos Trasbach, Jacob Rothman and Phil Aube also found the back of the net. The Benkovitz brothers, Michael and Christopher, each recorded two assists while Elliott Cobb made 14 saves on 15 shots.
Providence Capitals 3 – New Jersey 87’s 0: Kaden Clegg recorded a 27-save shutout as the Capitals blanked the 87’s. Deaglan Kelly gave Providence a 1-0 lead as he went upstairs on a shorthanded breakaway for his sixth goal of the year. Midway through the second half, Jack Farrell and Maddox Watson scored 26 seconds apart, putting the game out of reach for New Jersey.
HC Rhode Island 5 – Philadelphia Little Flyers 4: HC Rhode Island erased a three-goal deficit in the first half as they took down the Little Flyers in the shootout. Will Sherman had a pair of goals and Cyrus Keeling scored to give the Little Flyers a 3-0 lead, but John Cronin, Jarret Rainey-Gibson and Austin Haldane responded for HC Rhode Island. Cooper Hall scored midway through the second half to give Rhode Island the lead, but Duke Kersting lofted a shot under the bar to knot things up at four. In the shootout, Peyton Meyers and Rainey-Gibson scored in the shootout while goaltender Eddie Leary, who made 37 saves in his EHL debut, stopped the two shootout attempts from Philadelphia.
New Hampshire Avalanche 4 – Bridgewater Bandits 2: The Avs jumped to a 3-0 lead in the opening half with goals from Tyler Hague, Connor Carey and Evan Vasilijevs. Bridgewater struck back with goals from Hayden Polley and Brennan Printer, making it a 3-2 game. New Hampshire regained a two-goal lead, however, as Xavier Mertola scored a power-play goal, and the Avalanche improved to 5-1-1.
New England Wolves 6 – Union Jr. Thunder 1: Six different players scored for the Wolves in their win over Union, improving to a 4-0-0 record. Noah Deyak, Robbie Murphy, Ivars Veisbardis and Roberts Horejs scored in the first half for New England; Charles-Etienne Roy and Xavier Gingras tacked on two more goals in the second. MatÄ›j Farkaš had the lone goal for Union.
Vermont Lumberjacks 3 – New Jersey Renegades 0: Vermont spoiled the Renegades’ opening day by shutting them out 3-0. Nolan Latinville, Andrew Hale and James Greene were the Lumberjacks’ goal scorers and Sumner Wood pitched a 28-save shutout. It was the first win of the season for Vermont, as they improved to 1-2-0.
Seahawks Hockey Club 4 – Pennsylvania Huntsmen 1: Orynn Freedman had a goal and an assist in the Seahawks win over Pennsylvania. Peyton Evans, Huero Rivera and Carson Low also found the back of the net for the Seahawks while Will Rose stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced.
New Jersey 87’s 3 – Providence Capitals 0: It was a double header between the 87’s and Capitals on Friday. After Providence’s EHL squad blanked the 87’s 3-0, New Jersey’s EHLP team returned the favor with a 3-0 win of their own. Beknur Akmakhan scored twice, once in each half, and Luke Glover recorded his first goal as an 87. Patrick McGillicuddy made 12 saves and earned his third shutout of the season.
New Hampshire Avalanche 6 – New Jersey Bears 2: The Bears jumped to a 1-0 lead within the first minute of the game on a goal from Gabriel Harrison, but New Hampshire responded with six unanswered goals. Three different Avs players recorded three points each; Michael Cole had the hat trick, Connor Carey had two goals plus an assist while Xavier Mertola recorded three helpers. While it was New Hampshire’s second game of the day, the team showed no signs of slowing down as they cruised to a doubleheader sweep.
Adirondack Jr. Thunder 8 – Philadelphia Little Flyers 2: Three players for Adirondack scored two goals each; Quinn Wimer, Mack Ryan and Cole Davidson powered the Thunder’s offense. The Little Flyers turned a 3-0 deficit into a one-goal game as Brandyn Boch and Donte Neve scored on a five-minute power play in the first half. The comeback fell short, however, as the Thunder tacked on four more goals in the second half, closing out Day Two of the October showcase.
