For the first time in league history, the EHL All Stars managed to take down two NCAA programs in the same season as the Mid-Atlantic All Stars defeated Post on Thursday night by a score of 5-3.

The All Stars got things going in the first period as Pennsylvania Huntsmen forwards John Manzi and Ryan Arendes combined for the game’s opening goal. Manzi won a faceoff to back to Arendes, who ripped a one-timer from the top of the circle to put the All-Stars ahead 1-0. Later in the period, a pair of H.C. Rhode Island forwards helped double the lead, as Austin Haldane slipped a pass to the slot for Mike Bianco, as he fired a shot home to make it 2-0.

Post responded with two goals early in the second, but the All-Stars regained the lead late in the period when New York Apple Core forward Tyler Gobel put away a rebound for a shorthanded goal.

Little Flyers forward Dominic Mascieri extended the lead early in the third period when he led a two-on-one rush up the ice and snapped a shot low blocker side. On a late power play, the All Stars added one final goal as Ryan Arendes fired a shot-pass right to the stick of Philadelphia Hockey Club forward Nick Vinson, who deflected the puck past the Eagles goaltender and sealed the win for the All-Stars.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first period, then broke out with three more goals in the middle frame.

Connecticut Nor’Easter forward Maciah Bascombe put the MidAtlantic All-Stars on the board as he scored on a breakaway. Cullen Hennessey, who played for a pair of EHL teams prior to college, scored two of the Wildcats’ goals in their victory.
