Starzi, Krollis, and Girard Earn EHL Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- That's a wrap on the 2018-19 regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). The final week featured a handful of teams solidifying their playoff seedings, and a number of great performances from across the league.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Anthony Starzi (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights), Niks Krollis (New Hampshire Avalanche), and Billy Girard (Boston Jr. Rangers) have been named the TSR Hockey Stars of the Week.

It's now time for the First Round of the EHL Playoffs, as the road to Providence has officially begun. Remember to catch the #Eshow all month long on HockeyTV.

FORWARD - Anthony Starzi (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights)

Starzi and the Knights split their pair of games this past week, and officially clinched the #3 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Conference.

As for the '98 native of Chaddsford, PA, Starzi helped his team secure their slot by scoring four goals and adding an assist on Thursday against the New Jersey 87s. The talented scorer played a role in over half of his team's goals that afternoon, as the Knights won by the final score of 8-3.

Moving along to the regular season finale, and the final result wasn't as good for the Knights, but Starzi did add another assist in a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the New Hampshire Avalanche. Overall, Starzi wrapped-up the regular season with 32 points in 23 total games, and he will look to continue to lead the way on offense as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton takes on the New York Applecore in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs.

DEFENSEMAN - Niks Krollis (New Hampshire Avalanche)

Krollis and the Avalanche closed out the regular season with wins over the New England Wolves, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, and the New Jersey 87s.

The '99 native of Riga, Latvia scored the game-winning goal in today's matchup with New Jersey, and added four assists to his name as well. After tallying 25 points in 40 games last season, Krollis nearly doubled his production this year, as he notched 33 points in 27 regular season games.

If you take away one loss each from January and February, the Avalanche won all 18 of their remaining games in 2019. Overall, New Hampshire owns a mark of 19-2-0 dating back to the December Showcase.

Krollis and the Avalanche will now enjoy a First Round bye, while they await to find out who their New England Conference opponent will be in the Second Round of the EHL Playoffs.

GOALTENDER - Billy Girard (Boston Jr. Rangers)

Girard and the Rangers secured the home-ice advantage in the First Round of the EHL Playoffs, by picking up wins over the Valley Jr. Warriors and the East Coast Wizards. Both games required extra time to determine a winner, with the Warriors matchup ending in a shootout, and the Wizards game coming to a finish in overtime.

As for the '99 native of Boca Raton, FL, Girard made 36 saves in the overtime victory against the Wizards, improving his record up to 12-5-4 for the season. To go along with his solid record, Girard also owns a 2.40 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

Paired alongside Aiden Curry, the pair of Rangers goaltenders have anchored the team down the stretch, and they will need to continue to do so in the postseason. While the team did lock up a slight advantage by playing both Games #1 and #3 in their building, they know that it's going to be a battle against the Seahawks Hockey Club in the First Round.

HONORABLE MENTION - Gaetano DeLonge (Valley Jr. Warriors)

In the final set of the Stars of the Week, we would like to recognize Gaetano DeLonge of the Valley Jr. Warriors with an Honorable Mention. The '98 native of Keene, NH scored a pair of goals and added an assist, as the Warriors went 1-0-1 in the final two games of the regular season. One of DeLonge's tallies came in overtime against the Walpole Express, as the veteran forward helped his coach end his junior hockey coaching career in style.
