EHL Alumnus Inks Entry Level Contract

BOSTON, MA -- Cayden Primeau, an alumnus of the Philadelphia Revolution, has signed an entry level contract with the Montreal Canadiens (National Hockey League), and will report to the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Laval, Quebec.

"Cayden Primeau is the best goaltender in Northeastern history," said Northeastern Men's Hockey Coach Jim Madigan. "From the minute he stepped on campus a season ago, he conducted himself as a true professional, on and off the ice, and was the ultimate teammate. He helped take our program to unprecedented heights, and his shoes will be difficult to fill, but we are excited for him to take the next step in his hockey career and we wish him and his family nothing but the best." -- Quote from NUhuskies.com.

Looking back on Primeau's pair of seasons with the Huskies, and the list of accomplishments is beyond impressive, starting with this year's Hockey East Championship. Prior to winning the conference a couple weeks ago, Primeau helped his program make it back-to-back Beanpot titles in early February.

Overall, the native of New Jersey posted a 2.00 goals against average and .932 save percentage, which are both program records at Northeastern. Primeau also owned a 44-18-6 record with eight shutouts, and he is the only goalie in program history to record at least 40 wins in two seasons.

Primeau began his junior hockey career during the 2015-16 season with the Revolution. Despite being the youngest player in the EHL that year, Primeau posted a remarkable 1.86 goals against average to go along with a league-leading .951 save percentage. At the end of the season, Primeau was named the EHL Goalie of the Year, and he's only continued to climb from there.

"My time with the Philadelphia Revolution was huge for my development," said Primeau. "It really taught me the junior style game, which ultimately set me up for college. I wouldn’t have changed my decision to play in the EHL, and with the Revolution for anything.”

From being selected in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, to representing his country at this year's World Junior Championship, Primeau has turned heads with every step that he has taken.

The Eastern Hockey League would like to congratulate Cayden on his latest step, and we can't wait to watch him excel in the professional ranks.
