RoughRiders Defenseman Set to Join Red Dragons this Fall

NORWALK, CT -- Giancarlo Romano, a defenseman for the Connecticut RoughRiders, has committed to SUNY Cortland for the fall of 2019.

The '99 native of Briarcliff Manor, NY, recently finished his first and only season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), tallying 14 points from the blue line.

"Giancarlo has a wide range of versatile talent on the ice," said RoughRiders associate head coach Steven Brown. "With good size, amazing agility and speed, combined with his game intelligence he was a major piece of the RoughRiders season in all game situations. He plays tough, blocks shots, and does the grimy work to get loose pucks. He will be an exciting player to watch next year in the SUNYAC."

Romano is the 2nd EHL player this season to commit to SUNY Cortland, joining Jake Ballagh of New Hampshire Avalanche. Romano and the Ballagh are 11th and 12th respective players in league history to commit to join the Red Dragons program.
