Jr. Flyers Forward Set to Join Seahawks this Fall

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Connor Leighton, a forward for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, has committed to Salve Regina University for the fall of 2019.

The '98 native of Allentown, PA spent the 2018-19 season with the Jr. Flyers, and tallied 44 points (16 goals, 28 assists) in 48 total games. Leighton was one of the most dependable Jr. Flyers this past year, dressing in every single game his team played in.

"I'm extremely happy to see that Connor is continuing his hockey career at Salve Regina," said Jr. Flyers head coach and general manager Jerry Domish. “I first had the opportunity to coach Connor at mites and then squirts. When he came back to play with us this year, I was very happy to have the opportunity to help him again at the end of his youth hockey career. He is a very hard worker and one of the greatest kids I have ever had a chance to work with. I know he will be very successful at the college level and I could not be happier for him."

With Leighton's commitment, Salve Regina has now brought in at least one player per year from the EHL, since the league was formed in 2013. Overall, Leighton is the 11th player in league history to commit to join the Seahawks program. While the decision took a little longer than he had hoped, the veteran forward is eager and excited to get started this fall.

“I’m very excited and proud to commit to Salve Regina,” said Leighton. “Coach Klann made my family and I feel very comfortable on our visit and we fell in love with everything Salve had to offer me as a student-athlete. I’d like to thank my family, my teammates and past coaches – Coach Domish and Coach Novodor – for helping to make me the person and player that I am today. I look forward to the next four years at Salve Regina and hope to win some national championships along the way."
