5 Players Receive Weekly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- The 2019-20 hockey season is officially underway at the NCAA Division II and III levels. There are hundreds of alumni from the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), spread out amongst all the teams, and five players in particular were honored for their performances this past week/weekend.

Alex Ochterbeck (Philadelphia Little Flyers)

Alex Ochterbeck, an alumnus of the Philadelphia Little Flyers, was named the Player of the Week in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The '97 native of Dallas, TX, is now a sophomore at Curry College, and he helped lead his team to a perfect 2-0-0 record this past weekend.

Ochterbeak had an assist in his team's 3-1 victory over #12 UMass Boston on Friday, and then added a pair of goals in 4-2 win over #15 Babon on Saturday. Additionally, Ochterbeck finished the week with a plus-five rating.

The talented scorer, ranks 4th in EHL history with 57 career goals, and that includes 43 during the 2017-18 season. The 43-mark is tied with Devin Panzeca (East Coast Wizards) for the EHL regular season record.

Alex Rowella (Connecticut RoughRiders)

Alex Rowella, an alumnus of the Connecticut RoughRiders, was named the Player of the Week in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). The '97 native of Ridgefield, CT led #14 Manhattanville College to a 1-0-1 record this past weekend, and a runner-up finish at the Buffalo State Tournament.

Rowella earned all-tournament team honors with a goal and an assist on Friday, and then another 1-1-2 performance on Saturday. With the win over Buffalo State, and the tie against Adrian College, Manhattanville was able to move into the top-ten ranks at the Division III level.

Looking back on Rowella's time in the EHL, and the former RoughRiders' captain averaged just under a point per game, with over 115 total points in three seasons in Connecticut.

Kayser Raei (Walpole Express)

Kayser Raei, an alumus of the Walpole Express, was named the Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 (NE10). The '97 junior from West Roxbury, MA, notched a three-point night in the season opener for Stonehill College. The big night for Raei included the overtime winner against UMass Dartmouth, which goes in the books as his second career game-winning goal for the Skyhawks.

Looking back on the single season that Raei spent in the EHL, and the playmaker drew great attention from college scouts while tallying 57 points in 48 total games.

Nathan Pickett (New Hampshire Avalanche)

Nathan Pickett, an alumnus of the New Hampshire Avalanche, was named the Rookie of the Week in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). In his collegiate hockey debut, the '99 native of Auburn, MA made 48 saves, and anchored Suffolk University to a 3-2 victory over Franklin Pierce University.

The top-notch performance for Pickett is a perfect transition from the way he ended his junior career this past March. In six playoff starts, Pickett was a perfect 6-0-0, and owned record-setting marks for goals against average (1.17) and save percentage (.942).

Matt Schreiner (Walpole Express)

Matt Schreiner, an alumnus of the Walpole Express and a freshmen at Saint Michael's College, was named the Rookie of the Week in the NE10. Similar to Raei, Schreiner spent just a single season in the EHL, tallying 30 points in 40 total games this past year.

As for this past weekend, the '99 native of Falmouth, MA tallied a goal and an assist, as the Purple Knights posted a 1-0-1 record against Albertus Magnus College. Schreiner also shined in face-off category, going 22-for-33 (66.7%) on the draws he took.
