Leja's 10-Point Week Headlines Top Performers

BOSTON, MA -- Combined between the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), a total of 349 games have been played so far this season. That essentially puts us at the halfway point, with a total of 359 regular season games still remaining.

Below you'll find the 11th set of Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week.

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #11

It has been a great year so far in the EHL, with tons of parity throughout the New England Conference and the Mid-Atlantic Conference.

The EHL is pleased to announce that Daniels Leja (New Jersey 87s), Evan Green (Team Maryland) and Zach Richards (Team Maryland) have been named the Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week.

For Leja, this is his 2nd weekly honor of the season (Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week #8), and it was very well-deserved as he tallied four goals and six assists in a pair of victories for the 87s. With the wins, New Jersey improved their record up to 15-5-0 for the season, and they climbed their way into the #2 slot in the latest set of EHL Power Rankings.

As for the '99 native of Latvia, Leja has now tallied at least a single point in all 18 games he's played in so far this year. To date, Leja has 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists), which puts him on a good pace to surpass the 69 points he tallied in 49 total games last season. Coming out of the holiday break, Leja and the 87s head south for a pair of games against the North Carolina Golden Bears on December 7th and 8th.

Sticking with the Mid-Atlantic, Team Maryland is currently tied with the 87s for the top spot in the conference, despite five games in hand for New Jersey. Regardless of that fact, Maryland owns a mark of 14-9-2 for the season, which is already a huge improvement when compared to their 10-35-1 final record from this past year.

As for this past week, Green and Richards helped lead their team to weekend sweep of the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, winning by scores of 4-0 and 4-2.

The captain, Green, notched a pair of goals and dished out a trio of assists over the weekend. Included in his five points was the game-winning goal from Saturday's victory, his second clinching tally in as many games for Maryland. Following Josh Fusco from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights to Maryland has really paid off for Green this season. The veteran defenseman has tallied 13 total points so far this year, which has already helped him surpass the eight total points he tallied all of last season.

As for Richards between the pipes, the 2000-born native of Hampstead, MD pitched a 28-save shutout on Saturday and then followed that performance up with 44 saves on Sunday. With the pair of wins, Richards improved his record up to 7-3-1 for the season, to go along with a 2.61 GAA and .922 save percentage.

Similar to the 87s, Maryland will return to action on December 7th and 8th, with a pair of road games against the Philadelphia Revolution.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #11

As for the Premier Division, there has been a similar level of parity throughout the year, when compared to the EHL.

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Baxter Kimball (New Hampshire Avalanche), Tyler Anastasi (Railers Jr. Hockey Club) and Cameron Carmen (New Jersey 87s) have been named the Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week.

Kimball and the Avalanche hit the ice for just a single game this past Sunday, but they made it count while picking up a 5-4 victory over the Railers. With the win, New Hampshire improved their overall record up to 19-3-0 for the year, as they continue to hold down the top spot in the New England Conference, and moved back into the top spot in the EHLP Power Rankings.

As for the 2001-born native of Eliot, ME, Kimball tallied a pair of goals and a pair of assists in the game against the Railers, running his season totals up to 13 goals and 15 assists in 20 games. Dating back to the beginning of the November Showcase weekend, Kimball has now tallied at least pair of points in five of his team's last seven games.

Coming out of the holiday break, Kimball and the Avalanche hit the road for a pair of matchups against the New England Wolves on Saturday the 7th, and the Walpole Express on Sunday the 8th.

Speaking of the Railers, Anastasi and his teammates won two of their three matchups this past week, knocking off Vermont Lumberjacks on Friday and Saturday before falling to the Avalanche on Sunday. On the back end, the 2002-born native of Andover, MA notched a pair of goals and a pair of assists, running his season total up to 20 points in 20 games so far this year.

Sitting in a dead-locked tie with the Boston Jr. Rangers for 2nd place in the conference, Anastasi and the Railers will return to action with a matchup against their rival on Saturday the 7th.

Wrapping things up between the pipes, a pair of 25-save performances from Carmen helped lead the 87s to victories over the Philadelphia Revolution and the Philadelphia Little Flyers. For the year, Carmen now owns a record of 9-1-0, to go along with a 2.14 GAA and .923 save percentage.

With the pair of wins, the 87s moved back into the EHLP Power Rankings, and closed the gap on the Little Flyers for the top spot in the Mid-Atlantic Conference. New Jersey will return to action on Sunday the 8th, when they host the in-state rival New Jersey Renegades at 6:45pm.
