BOSTON, MA -- We've reached the holiday break with the final Stars of the Week announcement of 2019.

Below you'll find the 14th set of Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week from the past seven days in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #14

The EHL is pleased to announce that Andrew Bella (Connecticut RoughRiders), Colin Tracy (New Hampshire Avalanche) and LJ Newell (New England Wolves) have been named the Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week.

Bella and the RoughRiders won all three of their games this past week, including a victory over the Connecticut Chiefs on Tuesday and a home-and-home sweep of the New York Apple Core on Saturday and Sunday. Bella was able to assist on the game-tying goal in the RoughRiders 2-1 victory over the Chiefs, before posting his top performance to date during the opener against the Applecore. The native of Norwalk, CT was able to tally a hat-trick in the contest, and collect two assists as well, for a total of five points on the night. Things didn’t stop there for the ’99 forward, as he was able to tally yet another assist during the back end of the series against the Applecore. After this week’s showing Bella continues to lead the league in goals scored with 29 and sits in 3rd place for total points with 48. Action for the RoughRiders resumes at the January Showcase as they travel to Exeter, NH to take on the Vermont Lumberjacks and Seacoast Spartans.

Tracy and the Avalanche only hit the ice for a single game this past week, but they took care of business with a 4-1 victory over the Spartans. Tracy, the recent Plymouth State, was able to assist on all but one of the Avalanche goals. The EHL veteran now has 14 points in 26 games so far this season. The ’99 native of Bow, NH is on a great pace to surpass his point total from a year ago, as he is only one point behind his 2018-19 total. With this win the Avalanche are now 19-7-3 for the season, and they will start the new year on January 8th as they head to Haverhill, MA to take on the Valley Jr. Warriors.

Newell and Wolves extend their winning streak out to six games, after defeating the Railers Jr Hockey Club on Tuesday and then sweeping their two-game home series against the Connecticut Chiefs. The 2000-born netminder was between the pipes for all three contests, brining his overall record up to 8-1-2 for the season. Throughout the course of the three games, Newell faced 93 total shots fending away 86 that were sent his way. Newell now owns a save percentage of .919% for the year, and hopes to keep things moving in the right direction as the Wolves pick things up next at the January Showcase. The Wolves matchups including games against the Apple Core and Warriors.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #14

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Noah Wirth (New England Wolves), Ryan Crane (New Jersey 87s) and Curtis Briggs (Railers Jr. Hockey Club) have been named the Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week.

Wirth and the Wolves followed suit with their EHL team this past week, beating the Railers on Tuesday and then sweeping their two-game home series with the Connecticut Chiefs. Combined together, Wolves organization has won 11 straight games.

As for the native of Northfield, NH, Wirth led the way on offense during the three games this past week, as he was able to rack up a total of 9 points. Wirth started his campaign for our weekly honors by scoring two goals against the Railers on Tuesday. He followed up with another great showing during the Wolves series with the Chiefs, where the ’99 tallied one assist in game #1 and then a phenomenal performance in game #2. Wirth had his best game to date on Sunday, netting four goals and assisting on two other tallies, for a six-point afternoon. The Wolves will resume action on January 11th, as they travel to Haverhill, MA to take on the Valley Jr. Warriors.

Make that two weeks in a row for Crane (Warrior Hockey Stars of the Week #13), who led the 87s this past week to victories over the Philadelphia Revolution and New York Bridgemen. New Jersey has now won eight in a row, and climbed into the top spot in the EHLP Power Rankings.

As for the 2000-born defenseman from Middletown, NJ, Crane played the role of hero against the Revolution, as he tallied an assist and scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Saturday. Crane then scored his 8th goal of the season during the 4-2 win against the Bridgemen on Sunday, bringing his point total up to 20 for the year. The 87’s continue to sit in 2nd place in the Mid-Atlantic Conference with 38 points, just two points behind the Philadelphia Little Flyers with two games in hand as well. New Jersey will take on Philadelphia when they return from the holiday break on Sunday, January 5th.

Briggs and the Railers split their games this past week, falling to the Wolves on Tuesday and defeating the 1st-place New Hampshire Avalanche on Saturday. The ’99 netminder stood strong in net for the Railers against the Avalanche as he was faced with 35 shots, fending away all but three that were sent his way. Briggs had a game save percentage of .914% and is now 3-0-1 for the season. The Railers sit third in a tight-knit New England Conference with 41 points, just one point behind the 2nd-place Wolves. Play resumes for the Railers as they will travel to Leddy Arena to take on the Vermont Lumberjacks on Friday, January 3rd.
