Maryland Captain Set to Join Hawks this Fall

ODENTON, MD -- Evan Green, a defenseman for Team Maryland, has committed to Becker College for fall of 2020.

The '99 native of St. Charles, MO is in his second full season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and his first with Team Maryland. To date, he's tallied 28 total points in 84 career games on the blue line.

"Green is a prime example of what it means to trust the process," said Team Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "He has turned into a tremendous leader and someone that we wanted here to help build the culture and get our program going in the right direction. He plays a heavy game, and he's a tough player with a hard shot. He always has a presence on the ice, and I am very proud of him and excited to track his progress throughout his collegiate career."

Green has been with Fusco throughout his entire career in the EHL, dating back to the previous two years with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Green is also the first EHL player to commit to Becker this season, and the 20th player in league history.

"I am just super excited to get that burden off my back and be able to focus on winning the rest of the way," said Green. "I'm very excited to be a Hawk and know that all the hard work over the past years has paid off."

Green and Team Maryland are in a tight battle in the middle of the Mid-Atlantic Conference, with 10 regular season games remaining. The big bright spot for Maryland down the stretch is that all 10 games will take place in the friendly home confines of the Piney Orchard Ice Arena.
