Express Forward Set to Join Golden Gusties this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Tim Lopez, a forward for the Walpole Express, has committed to Gustavus Adolphus College for the fall of 2020.

The '99 native of Loveland, CO spent part of the 2017-18 season with the Connecticut Oilers in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). After a year away, Lopez returned this season, but this time with the Express. To date, the veteran forward has played in 55 career games in the EHL, and he's tallied 15 goals and 31 assists during that time.

"Tim is a guy that quietly goes about his business and focuses on getting better each day,” said Express head coach and general manager Cody Campbell. “He has been a big contributor to our team's success this season and we couldn’t be happier for Tim to achieve his goal of playing college hockey!”

As Campbell mentioned, Lopez has quietly averaged over a point per game this year, with 37 points through 35 total games. Lopez has shown great improvement as the season has moved along, and he now feels ready to take his game to the next level at Gustavus.

“I knew that Gustavus was the right fit for me when I went on my visit and felt right at home," said Lopez. "I loved everything about the school, they provide me with the opportunity to get a great education while playing on a really good hockey team in a competitive conference. The facilities are top-notch, and put student athletes in a good position to succeed, along with the awesome coaching staff."

Lopez went on to talk about his junior hockey experience, and how it was the Express who ultimately helped him reach his goal.

"Playing for the Express has helped me so much this season," added Lopez. "The organization is well-known for moving players on and helping them become more successful. Coach Campbell has done an amazing job at creating new opportunities for me and setting me up for success. I would like the thank my family, friends, and coaches who have always been supportive and helped me become the player and person I am today.”
