Express Forward Joining Golden Gusties with Teammate this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Patrick McDonald, a forward for the Walpole Express, has committed to Gustavus Adolphus College for the fall of 2020.

After a year of prep hockey, the '99 native of Camillus, NY chose to come to the Eastern Hockey League for his final season of development before college. In 37 total games to date, McDonald has tallied 26 points to his name.

"Pat has been a consistent and reliable part of our group all year,” said Express head coach and general manager Cody Campbell. "He has been an upbeat and positive teammate all season and we are excited to help Pat make his goal of becoming a college hockey player a reality.”

McDonald is one of two Express players joining Gustavus next season, as Tim Lopez just recently made the same decision. Overall, McDonald is very excited about the choice he made, as it really is the perfect fit.

"I knew Gustavus was the right fit for me when I stepped on campus," said McDonald. "Having a rink on campus is something I’ve always wanted in a program, and I’ll be able to get a great education while being part of a great hockey program."

McDonald want on to thank everyone that helped him along the way, including the Express.

"Playing for the Express has been crucial in helping me reach my goal of playing college hockey," added McDonald. "Coach Campbell has put in the time to help me reach my goals all year and I can’t thank him enough for that. All the boys on the team also helped out by making Walpole a great environment to play in. I also wanted to say thanks again to everyone who helped along the way, and especially my parents for making this year possible.”

McDonald and the Express would be the #5 seed in the New England Conference if the EHL Playoffs started today. With just nine games remaining in the regular season, Walpole will look to improve on that position down the stretch.
