Wolves Forward Set to Join Penmen this Fall

LACONIA, NH -- Matt Amante, a forward for the New England Wolves, has committed to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) for the fall of 2020.

The '99 native of West Hempstead, NY is in his second season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and first full year with the Wolves. Amante spent the better half of the 2018-19 campaign with the New Hampshire Avalanche, before heading north a little over a year ago.

Amante provided an instant spark with the Wolves, tallying 12 points in the final seven games of the 2018-19 season. Now, in a full season with the Wolves, Amante has notched an even 40 points and 40 games so far this year.

"We're very happy to see Matt accomplish his goal of playing college hockey," said Wolves head coach Tim Kunes. "Matt has been a key player and seen a lot of ice time ever since he joined our team. He's a hard working and skilled player, and Southern New Hampshire is getting a great fit."

SNHU has always been a strong recruiter of the EHL, as Amante goes down as the 28th player in league history to choose the Penmen hockey program.

Looking forward, with this weight now off of his shoulders, Amante can focus on a tough remaining schedule for the Wolves. As New England makes their push for a higher seed in the EHL Playoffs, they will take on the Walpole ExpressEast Coast Wizards, and New Hampshire Avalanche twice, in the final week of the regular season.
