RoughRiders All-Star Defenseman Set to Join the Beavers this Fall

NORWALK, CT -- Grey Owens, a defenseman for the Connecticut RoughRiders, has committed to Babson College for the fall of 2020.

The '99 native of Greenwich, CT is in his second season with the RoughRiders, and first full year in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). Through 71 career games to date, Owens has tallied 59 total points to his name.

"Grey certainly has a nice toolbox of skills," said RoughRiders associate head coach Steven Brown. "He is is a transitional offensive minded defenseman, who skates very well, is quick and agile, and can generate offense from the backend."

Owens was part of the 2019 EHL All-Star Team that posted a 1-1-1 record in a trio of games against NCAA Division III opponents. Owens development is a key reason why he was selected to this year's team, and he's the 2nd All-Star Defenseman that the Beavers have taken in the past three years. Owens joins Ryan Campbell, an alum of the Walpole Express, who made the same decision back in 2018.

Owens and the RoughRiders are the #3 seed in the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Conference playoffs, which means they will draw the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in the First Round of the postseason.
