Wizards All-Star Forward Set to Join Soaring Eagles this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- Chance Gorman, a forward for the East Coast Wizards, has committed to Elmira College for the fall of 2020.

The '99 native of Clinton, NJ recently finished his first and only season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). In the final year of his junior career, Gorman proved to be one of the top offensive players in the league, tallying 31 goals and 37 assists in 49 total games.

"Chance was easily one of the best players on our team, if not the best," said Wizards head coach and general manager Kory Falite. "Any time he [Chance] was on the ice, and in any situation, he had the ability to put the puck in the net. I can't wait to see the player that he becomes at the collegiate level."

Gorman's play-making ability was noticed right from the get-go this past season, as the veteran forward was the Wizards' representative of the 2019 EHL All-Star Team. That experience, along with everything else the Wizards did for him, is why Gorman feels ready for the next step in his career.

"First, thanks to the EHL for putting their players at the forefront, and giving us the opportunity of exposure to the highest degree," said Gorman. "I’d like to thank the Wizards coaches in Freddy Meyer and Kory Falite for getting me to this point. They’ve both truly reinstated my love for the game and coming to the rink everyday, which is a debt that simply can’t be repaid. I’d also like to thank Adrian [Peacock] for keeping my teammates and I in shape throughout our 7-month journey together. These three, with my teammates included, have made my stay in Bedford so memorable, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Lastly, I’d like to thank my family for everything they’ve sacrificed for me to continue my career with a smile on my face, with a special thanks to my brother for being my wingman every step of the way. As my time playing juniors comes to a close, I’m excited to kick things off in New York in a few short months. Thank you everyone, for everything."

Gorman is the 7th commit of the season for the Wizards and the first player in team history to choose Elmira for the next step in his career. Overall, Gorman is the 18th player in league history to choose the Soaring Eagles' program, and the 2nd All-Star from this past year's group of top players in the EHL. Gorman will be joined by fellow All-Star, Mitchell Haight from the Boston Jr. Rangers, when he arrives on Elmira's campus this fall.
