Jr. Flyers Forward Set to Join Golden Flyers this Fall

WEST CHESTER, PA -- Nicholas Simsir, a forward for the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, has committed to Nazareth College for the fall of 2020.

The '99 native of Haddonfield, NJ recently finished his 2nd and final season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and first year with the Jr. Flyers. Combined with the season (2018-19) he spent with Team Maryland, Simsir tallied 31 total points in 51 career games in the EHL.

"I'm extremely happy about Nick’s commitment," said Jr. Flyers head coach and general manager Jerry Domish. "He was all set to play here this past season when he started to have second thoughts on his ability to get a Division III offer. So, he went to college only to come back and fulfill his dream of playing college hockey. He is extremely talented and has outstanding hockey sense. When his confidence is high, there is nothing he cannot accomplish. I know he will be very successful at the next level."

As Domish alluded to, Simsir missed the first couple months of the season, while taking classes at a school close to home. As time progressed, Simsir felt the urge to get back on the ice, and that decision paid off.

“I am incredibly excited to be able to play hockey at Nazareth,” said Simsir. “I can’t say this would have happened without Coach Domish, who I’ve had the honor of knowing and having his guidance over these past few years. I also would like to thank coach George Roll at Nazareth for giving me the chance to play college hockey. Of course, thank you to my parents as well, for doing everything under the sun to give me the best chance to continue playing hockey, as well as my younger brother for giving me at home workouts to stay in shape during this quarantine. Finally, I should thank my past coaches and teammates for letting me stay persistent in reaching this goal."

Simsir is the 3rd player in Jr. Flyers' history to commit to Nazareth, joining Michael Houlihan from the 2018-19 team and Casey Kubara from the 2016-17 championship team.
