Spartans Forward Set to Join Wildcats this Fall

EXETER, NH -- Scotty Osani, a forward for the Seacoast Spartans, has committed to Johnson & Wales University (JWU) for the fall of 2020.

The '99 native of Valley Stream, NY recently finished his first and only season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), tallying 24 points in 43 total games for the Spartans.

"I couldn’t be happier for Scotty," said Spartans head coach Brett Tryder. "He worked very hard in the offseason after a year off of the ice to put himself in the position that he is in now. Scotty has a great feel for the game and sees things that others just don’t see. He is a true student of the game.”

As Tryder mentioned, Osani wasn't too involved in the sport during the 2018-19 season, playing in just over 10 games at Farmingdale State College (ACHA). However, the little taste he got of the sport fueled him to come back to juniors and play a big role with the Spartans during their inaugural season.

"I would like to personally thank the Seacoast Spartans organization for giving me the opportunity to play for them, said Osani. "Due to personal circumstances, I decided to step away from the game for more than a year. Luckily in August, Coach Tryder called me and got me back into the sport that I love. It was an unbelievable experience that I will never forget. We built a family and I can’t thank Coach Tryder and Coach Mallett enough for making my only year of junior hockey so memorable and for making my dream of playing college hockey a reality. I am very excited to start my career at Johnson & Wales with Coach Graham this fall.”

Tryder went on to talk about the call he made to bring Osani back to the rink.

"It is always nice to help a guy rediscover his love for hockey," added Tryder. "It can absolutely be a grind sometimes. There is nothing more satisfying than to see a guy learn to have fun while playing this great game. I believe that Scotty’s high skill level and his passion for the game will ensure a successful career at Johnson & Wales. I look forward to seeing him play in college."
