Cook Headlines Newest Set of Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- Things are picking up in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), as we head towards the end of the 2nd month in the 2020-21 season.

Below you'll find the 4th set of weekly top performers in the #EShow. The forward and defenseman awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie honors come courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #4

The EHL is pleased to announce that Markus Cook (Boston Jr Rangers), Robert Martiniello (New Hampshire Avalanche), and George McMichael (New Hampshire Avalanche) have been named the Top Performers for Week #4.

Cook and the Rangers returned to action with a perfect week, winning all three of their games. The 2000-born native of Bear, DE kicked off the week with a goal and three assists against the Walpole Express on Wednesday. Things didn't slow down from there, as Cook added a pair of assists against the Valley Jr Warriors on Thursday, and a pair of goals against the Maine Eclipse on Friday.

Included in Cook's goals on Friday was the game-winning tally, his first of his EHL career. Now, at 3-0-1, Cook and the Rangers get ready for another three-game week, with home matchups against the Seahawks Hockey Club, the Railers Jr Hockey Club, and the Seacoast Spartans.

Moving back to the blue line, Martiniello and the Avalanche won both of their games this past week, with the young defenseman only playing in the matchup against the Vermont Lumberjacks. In that contest, the '03 native of Salem, NH scored his first career EHL goal, a tally that stood up as the game-winner when the final horn sounded. Martiniello also added an assist to his name, running his season total up to an even five points in five total games.

As for McMichael, the 2000-born native of Goldens Bridge, NY was absolutely stellar in his only start of the week, turning aside 50 of the 51 shots the Lumberjacks sent his way. For the season, McMichael now owns a record of 4-1-0 to go along with a 1.40 GAA and a .956 save percentage.

Looking ahead, the Avalanche will next be in action on Friday, November 6th, when they travel to take on the Connecticut Chiefs at 12:30 pm.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #4

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Jayde Justus (New Hampshire Avalanche), Lucas Kline (New Jersey 87s), Samuel Boos (Maine Eclipse) have been named the Top Performers for Week #4.

Justus and the Avalanche won their only game of the week, by the final score of 5-3 over the Vermont Lumberjacks. Heading into the 3rd period, the Avalanche trailed by a margin of 2-1. Justus quickly tied the score up at two apiece just 3:30 into the period, only to see Vermont regain the lead a few minutes later. From there the Avalanche scored three unanswered en route to the victory. Justus register another goal and two assists in those final three tallies, notching all four of his points in the 3rd period.

Justus and the Avalanche return to action the weekend of October 31st and November 1st when they host the Railers Jr Hockey Club and the Walpole Express.

Kline and the 87's won their only game of the week, by the final score of 6-1 over the New Jersey Renegades on Friday night. The 6'5" native of Alaska tallied three total points in the contest, with a pair of goals and an assist. For the season, Kline now has five total points in six games. Coming up this week, New Jersey takes on the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Friday, and the Connecticut Chiefs for a pair of games on Sunday.

Wrapping things up between the pipes, Boos won his first game in the EHLP, and he did so in dramatic fashion. The Eclipse knocked off the Boston Jr Rangers by the score of 1-0 in a shootout, and Boos was simply stellar while turning aside all 43 shots that were sent his way. With a record of 2-4-0 in their first six games, Maine will look to carry momentum over with them into a Wednesday matchup this week against the New England Wolves.
