RoughRiders Four-Game Streak Earns a Spot in the Top-Five

BOSTON, MA -- After a short period of time with very little change in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP), this week's set of Nexlevel Hockey Power Rankings brings a decent amount of movement in both divisions.

EHL

The top-ranked New Jersey 87s remain at #1 despite losing their first game of the season, as the Connecticut RoughRiders were the team to do so by way of a shootout. At 9-0-1, the 87's have the best record in the league and look primed to be the first team to reach double-digit wins this year.

At #2 and #3 respectively the New Hampshire Avalanche and the Boston Jr Rangers seem to have re-established themselves once again, as top contenders to come out of the New England Conference. After losing in a shootout to the Avalanche in the season opener, the Rangers have won five straight games while outscoring their opponents 29-10 along the way.

At #4, the Vermont Lumberjacks got back on track this past week, sweeping their three-game series with the Valley Jr Warriors, and re-establishing themselves as part of the core group at the top of the NEC standings.

Finally, the RoughRiders big win over the 87's, along with a current four-game winning streak, has catapulted Connecticut inside the top-five for the first time this season.

EHLP

As for the EHLP, despite being off this past week, the New Hampshire Avalanche move up to #1 with the only undefeated record in the league.

As for the #2 New Jersey 87s, they probably would have held onto the top spot in the rankings had they made it through the week cleanly, but the team settled for a mark of 2-1-0 in their three games.

One surprise this week comes in at #3, as the Walpole Express have won two in a row, and have earned at least a point in four of their last five contests.

Wrapping things up, the #4 Boston Jr Rangers may be off to a slow start by their standards, but at 3-1-2 and not playing their best hockey yet, it will only be a matter of time before the three-time defending Regular Season Champions start to heat up.
