#EShow Releases Second Set of Monthly Honors

BOSTON, MA -- Cross off another month in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP). October was a much busier month than September, as the action continues to pick up in both divisions.

Below you'll find the 2nd set of monthly award winners in the #EShow. The forward and defenseman awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie recognition comes courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE MONTH

The EHL is pleased to announce that Tyler Buonopane (Connecticut RoughRiders), Rece Poulin (Maine Eclipse), and Nathan Mueller (Boston Jr Rangers) have been named the October Stars of the Month.

No team in the EHL has played more games to date than Buonopane and the RoughRiders. Regardless of that aspect, Buonopane is easily one of the top-five scorers in the league this season. Overall, the 2000-born native of North Andover, MA, has tallied 32 points, which equals out to an average of 2.46 points per game. That mark is very consistent with what Buonopane did in the month of October, scoring eight goals and collecting 13 assists in nine total games.

The hot start to the season for the league's leading scorer, has Buonopane primed to set new career highs in his final season of junior hockey. The veteran forward began his junior hockey career during the 2018-19 season with the Valley Jr Warriors. That year, Buonopane tallied 10 points in seven EHLP games, and 15 points in 40 EHL games. Fast-forward to this past year, a season combined between time spent with the Warriors and the RoughRiders, and Buonopane finished with 40 points in 46 total games. He'll look to stay hot and surpass the 40-point mark, early on in November.

Right behind the RoughRiders in terms of overall game count stand the Eclipse, with 12 total games played to date. Through an up-and-down start to their inaugural season, the Eclipse have leaned heavily on their captain throughout the year. Poulin is an '01 from Bangor, ME, and to date he's tallied three goals and four assists on the back end. It's also worth noting that all seven of those points came this past month.

While their overall record stands at 2-9-1, Poulin and the Eclipse have found themselves on the wrong side of four one-goal games to date. The six-foot defenseman will look to keep pushing his team as the calendar heads towards 2021, and the Eclipse make a run at a playoff berth in their first season in the league.

Between the pipes, Mueller anchors the hottest team in the EHL. Riding an eight-game winning streak into November, all eight wins for the Rangers came this past month, with Mueller earning the victory in five contests. Along with the immaculate record, the '01 native of Rogers, MN ranks towards the top of the league with a 2.00 GAA and a .934 save percentage.

After dropping their season opener in a shootout to the New Hampshire Avalanche, the Rangers have gone on an absolute tear, which has the organization feeling deservedly optimistic once again this year. Mueller will look to stay hot with 11 more games remaining between now and the end of December.

EHLP STARS OF THE MONTH

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Ivan Borisov (New Jersey 87s), Brendan Schmidt (New Hampshire Avalanche), and Trey Mattern (Philadelphia Little Flyers) have been named the October Stars of the Month.

After not playing a single game in the month of September, Borisov and the 87's posted a record of 6-3-1 in the month of October. In his 2nd year with New Jersey, the '03 native of Metuchen, NJ leads the league with 18 points through 11 games (including matchup on 11/1). Of the 18 total points, seven goals and nine assists came in this previous month.

Borisov is well on his way to setting new career highs this year, after tallying 45 points in 42 total games this past season. Looking ahead, the 87's will look to maintain their grip on 1st place in the South Division with six straight games against the likes of the Little Flyers, Connecticut Chiefs, and New Jersey Renegades, throughout the rest of the month of November.

Moving back to the blue line, and while this past month only featured three total games for the Avalanche, Schmidt made them count. The '02 native of East Northport, NY tallied five total points in the three games, including a pair goals and three assists. Overall, New Hampshire won all three games, and combined with their perfect 3-0-0 month of September, the Avalanche remain the only undefeated team in the EHLP.

With rinks reopening in the state of New Hampshire, the schedule cranks up for Schmidt and the Avalanche, with 16 total games between now and the end of December.

Putting a bow on things between the pipes, Mattern and the Little Flyers posted a record of 5-3-0 in their eight games throughout the month of October. The '03 native of Manahawkin, NJ won four of those contests, with his only loss coming in a one-goal defeat at the hands of the 87's.

Overall, Mattern owns a record of 4-2-0 for the season, to go along with a 2.93 GAA and .908 save percentage. As one of the youngest players in the entire EHLP, Mattern has quickly turned heads as a goaltender to watch throughout the year. Similar to the 87's, the upcoming schedule is loaded with South opponents for the Little Flyers, with 10 total contests between now and the turn of the calendar year.
