Yasuda Headlines Newest Set of Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- Despite a slight increase in temperatures over the past week, it's starting to truly feel like hockey season once again in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

Below you'll find the 7th set of weekly top performers in the #ES
how. The forward and defenseman awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie honors come courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #7

The EHL is pleased to announce that Kei Yasuda (New Jersey 87s), Declan Bronte (Connecticut Chiefs), and Mason Palmer (Walpole Express) have been named the Top Performers for Week #7.

Yasuda and the 87's scored 15 goals in two games this past week, and picked up wins over the Connecticut RoughRiders and the Philadelphia Little Flyers. The 2000-born native of Japan added on to what has already been a tremendous year, notching a goal and six assists throughout the two contests. Overall, Yasuda now has 28 points through 13 total games to date, which ranks him 3rd in the league in scoring.

At 12-0-1, the 87's are one just two teams that have not suffered a regulation loss so far this season. Yasuda will look to help his team keep things rolling with a road matchup against Team Maryland tomorrow, and another home date with the RoughRiders on Thursday.

On the blue line, Bronte and the Chiefs were one of the busiest teams in the EHL this past week, playing games on five of the seven total days. The '01 native of Australia tallied five points along the way, running his overall total up to six points in his first eight games.

It's noteworthy that half of Bronte's points have come while his team has either been on the power-play or short-handed, proving that the skilled defenseman is a threat at all times when he is on the ice. At 5-6-2, Bronte and the Chiefs are right in the thick of things in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, with just a single game on the schedule this week against the New York Apple Core.

Palmer and the Express extended their winning streak out to seven games this past weekend, sweeping their home-and-home series with the East Coast Wizards. Walpole actually shut-out the Wizards in each game, with Palmer collecting the victory on Saturday night. With Adam Yost making 42 saves down on the opposite end of the ice, Palmer played a perfect game in his end, turning away all 40 shots that were sent his way.

The shutout was Palmer's first of the season, as well as his 3rd win of the year. With the victory the 2000-born native of Cumming, GA is now 3-1-1 and owns a 2.75 GAA and a .930 save percentage. Walpole's seven-game winning streak is the 2nd longest active stretch of its kind in the EHL, two games behind the pace being set by the Boston Jr Rangers. Palmer and the Express will begin a new week tomorrow afternoon against the Railers Jr Hockey Club, and then gear up for a huge home-and-home series with the Rangers on Friday and Saturday.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #7

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Tucker Tassone (New Hampshire Avalanche), Spencer Boris (New Hampshire Avalanche), Matt Morrison (Boston Jr Rangers) have been named the Top Performers for Week #7.

Tassone and the Avalanche won all three of their games this past week, picking up victories over the Walpole Express, the New England Wolves, and the Connecticut Chiefs. The '01 native of New Port Richey, FL stayed consistent throughout the week, notching a pair of goals and an assist in all three contests. While the Avalanche keep riding high at 9-0-0, Tassone is on a streak of his own, tallying three points per game in his last five contests.

Overall, Tassone now has 19 points in 9 total games, which puts the young forward in a great position to surpass the 23 total points he tallied in 40 games this past year.

Shifting back to the blue line, and after being held off the scoresheet in his first game of the season on October 14th, Boris notched a goal and four assists this past week. The five-point performance also included a goal and an assist on the power-play.

Looking forward, Tassone, Boris, and the Avalanche will look to remain the league's only undefeated team with two games this upcoming weekend against the Vermont Lumberjacks.

In goal, revenge was sweet for Morrison, who after losing to the Railers Jr Hockey Club back on October 21st, turned the tides with the Central Division rival on Sunday. The '02 native of Westminster, PA picked up his 2nd win of the season, while stopping 30 of the 32 shots that the Railers sent his way.

For the season, Morrison is now 2-1-1, and he owns strong marks with a 1.47 GAA and a .945 save percentage. At 5-1-2, the Rangers sit at the top of their division, with a two-point lead over the Walpole Express. Coming up this week, Morrison and the Rangers will look to increase that gap, with three total matchups against the Express, starting today at 2:30 pm.
