Little Flyers Top Defenseman Set to Join New Program in the Fall of 2021

ASTON, PA -- Jake Frankenfield, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Little Flyers, has committed to Arcadia University for the fall of 2021.

The 2000-born native of Marlton, NJ chose the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of junior hockey, and that decision has paid off immediately.

"We are very excited for Jake to join Coach Pietrangelo and Arcadia University next season," said Little Flyers head coach and general manager Mark Catron. "He has been a solid defenseman for us here in the early going and a great team guy in our locker room. He’ll be an excellent addition to their program. I couldn’t be happier for Jake and his family."

In 12 total games to date, Frankenfield has tallied five points, with three goals and two assists to his credit. The veteran defenseman is also now part of an incoming freshmen class at Arcadia that already includes five total players from around the EHL. When Frankenfield arrives at school next fall, he will be joined by Michael Hertzberg of the New Jersey 87's, and three members of Team Maryland in Halen CookstonKyle Peters, and Mike Kocsis.

"First off, I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me in my hockey career and the sacrifices they made so I could continue to play the game I love," said Frankenfield. "Along with all of my former coaches I’d like to thank Coach Catron, my teammates, and the entire Little Flyers organization for all of their help and support to get to this point in my career. Since day #1, I was welcomed and felt right at home in Aston. I am extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity I’m being given by Coach Vincent Pietrangelo at Arcadia University, and look forward to helping build the new hockey program."

Frankenfield has become a very popular player around the league, especially with the #ECrew that produces the league's podcast every Thursday throughout the season. Kyle McKenna is the league's Beat Writer this season, and a member of the #ECrew. Recently, McKenna sat down with Frankenfield to discuss this commitment and review the cheesesteak from the restaurant at IceWorks Skating Complex, the home of the Little Flyers.
