Rangers Forward Set to Join Soaring Eagles Next Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Markus Cook, a forward for the Boston Jr. Rangers, has committed to Elmira College for the fall of 2021.

The 2000-born native of Bear, DE chose the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) for his final season of junior hockey, and in 15 total games to date, Cook has tallied 21 points to his name.

"We are very proud of Markus,” said EHL head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio, “He immediately made an impact on our team from day #1, not only on the ice, but in the locker room as well. He brings tremendous determination and has the ability to score and create opportunities every time he takes the ice. Elmira got another good one!"

The use of the word 'another' can be pointed directly towards Cook being the 4th player in Rangers' team history to chose Elmira, and the 3rd player to do so since DeCaprio took over the helm back in 2015. Cook will join a pair of former EHL All-Star Defensemen in Nick Grinvalds and Mitchell Haight. Cook is grateful for the opportunity, and glad he chose the Rangers for his age-out year of junior hockey.

"I am proud to announce my commitment to Elmira College and to call it my home to play hockey, but more importantly, attend a great academically-sound school," said Cook. "Coach Rich, as well as the players, push me to be better everyday with the Boston Junior Rangers. Coming here I knew it would set me up for competing for a championship, as well as for college hockey, and the hard work is finally coming together as I move on from BJR to Elmira College."

At 13-1-1 the Rangers are off to another scorching start to kick-off the season, and the team will remain busy with consistent game action right up until the start of the holiday break.
