Maryland Forward Joins Strong Group of Future Knights

ODENTON, MD -- Mike Kocsis, a forward for Team Maryland, has committed to Arcadia University for the fall of 2021.

The '01 native of Middletown, NJ is in his first season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), and in 12 total games to date, Kocsis has tallied an even five goals and five assists to his name.

"Mike came here to develop and work on his game, all in an effort to prepare for college hockey," said Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "It's pretty special to have a guy choose you to help with that. It shows the level of trust these players have in us, and more importantly, the level of trust college coaches have in us with their future players."

Kicking things off next fall, the Arcadia Knights will officially join the NCAA Division III ranks and play out of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). Vincent Pietrangelo, the Head Coach of the Knights, is hot on the recruiting trails in preparation for next season. Along with Kocsis, Pietrangelo has also committed Halen Cookston and Kyle Peters from Team Maryland. Then, sticking with the Mid-Atlantic Conference, both Michael Hertzberg (New Jersey 87's) and Jake Frankenfield (Philadelphia Little Flyers) have also chosen Arcadia for this upcoming fall.

"The EHL is a great league to be a part of, and the connection that Coach Fusco and Coach Vinny [Pietrangelo] have, is what lead me to TM," said Kocsis. "The league and the program are going to help me prepare for the next level of my hockey career."

At 9-9-2 through their first 20 games, Kocsis and Team Maryland are right in the thick of things in their conference as they are currently tied with the Connecticut RoughRiders for 3rd place. Maryland has two home games left against the Philadelphia Little Flyers, leading into the holiday break.
