Seahawks Veteran Forward Set to Join New Program this Fall

SOUTH DENNIS, MA -- Anthony Purdue, a forward for the Seahawks Hockey Club, has committed to Rivier University for the fall of 2021.

The 2000-born native of Monroeville, PA is in his 2nd season with the Seahawks, and to date, he's tallied 22 total points in 64 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

"Anthony has come a long way throughout his time here on the Cape," said Seahawks head coach and general manager Bill Zaniboni. "He plays well in all three zones, and doesn't back down from battling in the dirty areas. It's pretty special to have now helped both Purdue brothers commit to play NCAA hockey."

As Zaniboni mentioned, he also helped Anthony's brother Bill advance onto college hockey, following the 2017-18 inaugural season for the Seahawks. With the Northeast-10 (NE10) not playing hockey this season, Bill is taking his Post University classes remotely, and working alongside Zaniboni as his Assistant Coach. While the Purdue brothers never played on the same Seahawks team, this year still counts, with one playing and one coaching in the 4th season of the program.

As for Anthony, he's very excited to have this weight off his shoulders, and is looking forward to helping Rivier launch their new program this fall.

"I am very excited to go into a new program and help create a positive culture, coming from the Seahawks which is a team that has been founded with a strong culture of good players that are good people in the community and hard workers," said Purdue. "I want to thank everyone that has helped me get to where I am today; all my current and past teammates and coaches, but most importantly my parents that have supported me the entire way."
