Avalanche All-Star Forward Set to Join Valiants this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Artem Mateichenko, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Manhattanville College for the fall of 2021.

Since joining the Avalanche in October of 2019, Mateichenko has scored five goals and dished out 41 assists in 39 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

"Artem came to us last season after leaving the NCDC," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He had a goal in mind to play college hockey and he achieved just that while playing for us. He is a dynamic skater, has a great skill set, and competes every day. He is very fun to watch in practice and in games. His style of play is going to translate very well to college hockey. I am so excited for him and his family, and look forward to following his collegiate hockey career. He is going to be a great addition to the Manhattanville community."

In four seasons in the EHL, the Avalanche have helped over 60 players advance onto college hockey. However, Mateichenko is the first player in program history to choose Manhattanville. The veteran forward is also the 17th player in league history to make this decision.

"I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to further my athletic and academic careers at Manhattanville College," said Mateichenko. "I am grateful for everything Coach Cerrella, Coach Mario and Coach Caliguri have done for me. The New Hampshire Avalanche as a whole is a first class organization that has given me every opportunity to succeed and now advance to the collegiate level. I am looking forward to the next 4 years as a Valiant!"

Mateichenko and the Avalanche sit at the top of the North Division standings with a record of 20-3-1. With this weight now off of his shoulders, the talented playmaker will now look to help lead his team back to the EHL Frozen Finals.
