Avalanche All-Star Forward Set to Join Falcons this Fall

HOOKSETT, NH -- Ryan Malko, a forward for the New Hampshire Avalanche, has committed to Albertus Magnus College for the fall of 2021.

The 2000-born native of Cranford, NJ began his career in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) with the Western Mass Chiefs. However, in December of this past season, the talented goal scorer was traded to the Avalanche where he has only continued to flourish.

"Ryan has really matured his game over the last season and a half with us," said Avalanche head coach and general manager Chris Cerrella. "He was very one dimensional and he worked on learning about the game away from the puck, and it has made him more dynamic. I am very excited about his commitment to Albertus and going to play for Coach Wallack. I think he is going to be successful at the collegiate level and the best hockey for him is in the near future. He is a very good addition to the Albertus athletic and academic community. I wish the best of luck to Ryan and his family."

Throughout his time in the EHL, Malko has been productive offensively, as he's scored 34 goals and collected 20 assists in 65 career games in the EHL. That production earned him a spot on the 2019-20 EHL All-Star Team that posted a 1-1-1 record against a trio of NCAA Division III opponents. That experience along with everything else he's gained has Malko eager and excited for the next level.

"I’m very excited to join Coach Wallack at Albertus Magnus this fall," said Malko. "His experience speaks for itself and I can tell the program is already heading in the right direction. I would like to extend a huge thank you to my friends and family for supporting me unconditionally. I’d also like to thank all of my coaches and teammates, especially the ones here in the Avalanche organization. Coach Cerrella, Coach Caligiuri, and Coach Martiniello, and everyone else with the program have helped me so much to get to where I am today. Go Falcons!"

Malko will now look to continue improving on his game down the stretch, as he and his teammates push to lock up the top playoff seed in the North Division.
