Reduzzi Headlines Newest Set of Stars of the Week

BOSTON, MA -- We've reached the final month of the regular season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and the Eastern Hockey League Premier (EHLP).

Below you'll find the 17th set of weekly top performers in the #EShow. The forward and defenseman awards are presented by Verbero Hockey, while the goalie honors come courtesy of Vaughn Custom Sports.

EHL STARS OF THE WEEK #17

The EHL is pleased to announce that Egan Schmitt (Lumberjacks Hockey Club), Jake LaChance (Boston Jr Rangers), and David Reduzzi (Lumberjacks Hockey Club) have been named the Top Performers for Week #17.

Schmitt, Reduzzi, and the Lumberjacks won all three of their games this past week, earning victories over all three of their opponents in the North Division.

Schmitt, the '01 native of Cambridge, NY, began the week with an assist in his team's 7-4 victory over the New England Wolves on Thursday. From there, things took off, as the Lumberjacks captain put the team on his back on Saturday and Sunday. In the matchup with the New Hampshire Avalanche (Saturday), the Lumberjacks fell behind 2-0, and then Schmitt himself scored four unanswered goals to lead his team to a 4-2 victory. Included in those tallies were two power-play strikes, and one short-handed goal.

Finally, he capped off the perfect week by assisting on each goal his team scored in a 2-1 win over the Seacoast Spartans on Sunday. For the season, Schmitt now has 27 points in 23 total games, which puts him well ahead of the pace he finished with last year (2019-20), as he tallied 38 points in 47 total games.

As for Reduzzi, the 2000-born native of St. Louis, MO was in net for his team's victories over the Avalanche and the Spartans, his 8th and 9th respective wins of the season. Overall, the veteran goaltender turned aside 78 of the 81 total shots he faced, lowering his GAA down to 3.13 and increasing his save percentage up to .925 for the year. Reduzzi has now won 29 games throughout his EHL career, which gives the netminder a strong chance to etch his name in the record books before the season comes to a close.

Moving to the blue line, LaChance and the Rangers won two of their three games this past week, improving their record up to 25-3-1 for the year. The 2000-born native of Andover, MA should be playing out his sophomore season at Wesleyan University this year, but due to COVID restrictions in the NCAA and his overall birth year, LaChance was able to return home and play juniors for the Rangers.

As for this past week, the defenseman notched four total assists in the three games, including a pair on the power-play. For the season, LaChance now has 16 points in 14 games to date, and he's proven to be an integral piece for the Rangers on the back end. The Rangers still lead the way in the Central Division, as they push to follow suit with the 87's, and lock up the #1 seed in the postseason.

EHLP STARS OF THE WEEK #17

The EHLP is pleased to announce that Joshua Martin (New Hampshire Avalanche), Damion Williams (New Jersey 87s), and Nathan Burlew (New Hampshire Avalanche) have been named the Top Performers for Week #17.

Martin, Burlew, and the Avalanche won all three of their games this past week, outscoring their opponents 19-8 along the way. After picking up a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Lumberjacks Hockey Club on Wednesday, New Hampshire then rattled off back-to-back 8-3 victories over the New England Wolves on Friday and Sunday.

As for the '01 native of Yorktown, VA, Martin was held off the scoresheet in Wednesday's win over the Lumberjacks, but quickly rebounded with a pair of four-point performances against the Wolves. The eight-point week gives Martin 10 goals and 17 assists in 20 total games to date in the EHLP.

As for Burlew, the '01 native of Catonsville, MD was in net for all three victories, turning aside 98 of the 106 shots that he faced. For the season, Burlew is now a perfect 9-0-0, and his 2.10 GAA and .929 save percentage rank 1st and 2nd overall in each respective goaltending category.

At 21-1-0 the Avalanche continue to set the pace at the top of both the league and North Division standings. Martin and Burlew will look to continue to lead their team down the stretch, as they push to lock up the #1 seed in their division, and a playoff bye.

Speaking of 1st place teams, Williams and the 87's continue to lead the way at the top of the South Division, despite having their five-game winning streak and 15-game point streak snapped this past Sunday.

New Jersey posted an overall record of 2-1-0 in their three games over the weekend, and Williams tallied a pair of goals and a pair of assists throughout that time. For the season, the '02 native of Pinedale, WY now has 22 total points in 26 games to date, and this is his 3rd weekly honor of the season (Stars of Week #11 -- Stars of Week #14).

Williams and the 87's are in action for just a single game this upcoming weekend, as they host the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Sunday morning.
