Maryland Veteran Defenseman Set to Join Mustangs this Fall

ODENTON, MD -- Rory Gresham, a defenseman for Team Maryland, has committed to Stevenson University for the fall of 2021.

The 2000-born native of Apalachin, NY is in his 2nd season with Maryland, and in 77 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Gresham has tallied 37 total points to his name.

"As coaches we say these are all special but this one is more emotional for me," said Maryland head coach and general manager Josh Fusco. "To watch where Rory came from with me many years ago, to trusting me and following me here, is simply amazing and speaks volumes of the kid. He’s a tremendous person, a great teammate, and leader. He has put so much work into his career from development, maturity, and trusting the process, as well as earning an opportunity earlier in the year with the Black Bears, to this commitment shows why we do what we do and that the path to college hockey is possible with hard work, dedication, and trust."

Gresham is the 1st player in Maryland history to choose Stevenson, as the New York native will be continuing his collegiate hockey career in the same state that he spent the last two years of his junior hockey career. Overall, Gresham is the 25th player in league history to commit to the Mustangs hockey program.

"I can’t thank my parents enough for the constant support and always believing in me, my teammates for teaching me different lessons throughout the years, and Coach Fusco and Coach Reid for their hard work and dedication to develop me into the player I am today," said Gresham.

Gresham and Team Maryland have four regular season games remaining this upcoming week, as they continue to battle with the Philadelphia Little Flyers for the 2nd and final First Round bye in the South Division.
