Express Forward Set to Join Hawks this Fall

WALPOLE, MA -- Max Burum, a forward for the Walpole Express, has committed to Saint Anselm College for the fall of 2021.

The '01 native of Marshfield, MA spent this past season with the North American Tier III Hockey League (NA3HL), and then came to the Express this year for his first and only season in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). While Burum would be eligible to return for a final season of junior hockey next year, he's ready to make the jump this upcoming fall.

"Having a player like Max in your group is invaluable, because as a coach you know you can put him in any situation and get productivity from whatever role he is playing that night,” said Express head coach and general manager Cody Campbell. "I am so excited for Max and his family and can’t wait to see the success he has at the collegiate level.”

Burum is one of three EHL players that will be joining the Hawks this fall, as the rest of the incoming class includes Mark Blaney of the New Hampshire Avalanche and Hunter Brackett of the Seahawks Hockey Club. Burum is excited to be a part of this group, and knows that Saint A's is the perfect spot for him.

“Saint Anselm College to me is a place of hard working, courteous students built off divine integrity," said Burum. "In the long run, Saint A’s will provide for me the tools to be successful in both the workforce and in the waking day. I will be in good hands with Coach Rocha to develop into the student-athlete that I dreamed of becoming. I’d like to thank my Mom, Dad, and sister Rachael for trusting the process and giving me the opportunity to further my hockey career.”

Burum continued on about how his time in Walpole, and how the experience has helped him become the player he is today.

"Playing under Coach Campbell this year hasn’t been the easiest road traveled by any means," said Burum. "He asks a lot from each and every player, but if the player truly buys into the team, they find a momentous amount of success. I bought into the culture from the jump, and loved the intensity Cody had in regards of developing the player and the team into winning. Playing for the Walpole Express has skyrocketed my hockey career greatly and I couldn’t think of a better junior organization to spend my final year at."
